Let me preface this post by saying, I hate you guys. I'm not gonna do the whole "you'll be spooky soon" thing, because I wish nothing but the worst for your team.

But you did good with this deal. Kane will provide a lot of what you lack. We were hoping to get close to the Marchment return, and ended up getting less than half that. We're still happy because we needed to shed the cap and any picks help, and who knows what the good will from sending him home may materialize into in the future. He earned it for sure though.

We weren't blowing smoke about Kane turning things around with us, in regards to off ice stuff. Literally the only "negative" that was even slightly speculated about, and not by many credible sources, was that he tried to play injured last year in the scf and might return and f*** our cap at the tdl this year. Obviously that didn't happen, and only a loser would complain about Kane trying to gut it out in the scf when his replacement would have been 100 year old Derek Ryan or someone equally bad.

I think the reffing neutered him (purposely?) In the finals, but otherwise we all loved him this year.

If he gets PP+top 6 ice time, 40 goals would not surprise me in the slightest. He's a great athlete, knows how he needs to play the game to be successful, and has a great shot. He has also turned it up whenever the expectation was placed on him, and he will definitely have that mindset going home.

And if you suck this year (fingers crossed) it wouldn't shock me to see him pull a 1st at the tdl and you end up looking like geniuses.

Are vibes really that bad, holy shit. I’m just happy they actually wanna play for Vancouver 🙄

His kid lives in Vancouver I believe, so that would likely be the primary motivation, and being closer to family.

At this rate, the only leverage this organization has to attract players is if they're from Vancouver.

Kane is an ass and history suggests he's not a great person. But he has more or less kept his nose clean the last few years. Still issues but not the distraction he was. Still don't want him in a canucks uniform but there is some possibility he has reformed some the last few years and shown he can function as a somewhat normal person.

Perry was signed immediately after, well, being "fired" for sexual harassment. No one should have been touching Perry at that time. It's more equivalent to when the Oilers signed Kane when there was nothing to suggest he'd learned anything yet.
We should have signed Perry.

What worries me about Kane is that he will behave for one season, put up 25-30 goals and then we will give him a multi-year deal. He's coming to a place where his childhood friends and family will all be looking to "live the life" by going out partying, because that's what they used to do when he was a Giant. Same thing happened to Virtanen and Zach Hamill (if you remember that experiment). And then we will be forced to buy him out when he inevitably declines. Should not give him anything more than max 2 years at a time.

Kane the player? Still worth it for his shot and physicality, but he needs to get his shit together and stop retaliating when the situation doesn't call for it. Tkachuk baited him into taking so many stupid penalties in the SCF. He was a massive liability.

I've said for years that this franchise should be signing beautiful young blonde women from Vancouver to under-the-table deals and setting them up with NHLers in their early 20s, to eventually lure them to play for the Canucks. It's genius.

Part of me isn't kidding either lol, hockey players and blondes go together like McDavid and scoring titles.

You're talking about things that tend to happen when a guy is 16-24. Kane's 34 now and with a kid, it's no guarantee but that usually calms a person down. I agree though that the 'danger' is not so much acquiring Kane now as it is in a possible extension. He's going to be playing for that contract which should benefit us this season, but if he does well the next contract could be a risk.

Overall I don't pay attention to the personal side of players so I don't have an opinion on him there, but sounds like he'd mostly cleaned up in his years in Edmonton so I'd be more concerned with his health. Granted adequate health, he should be able to provide 20-30 goals on the wing which is exactly what we need replaced. If we're lucky, he can have a Kuzmenko like season with a rejuvenated Pettersson. And ideally he's a one year stop gap for Lekkemerimaki to develop an NHL game.

He's never scored 40 in a season, even when healthy. His best season (pro-rated) was when he first came to Oilers and lit it up getting help from McDrai playing half a season and then the playoffs. He's tailed off since then.

Assuming he gets good minutes and paired up with EP, he might get 25. If injured, probably 15-20.
