If the Stars smoke the Oilers, have to assume that is a big red flag for McDavid maybe leaving. Another Finals appearence and ill jump on board the McDavid Oiler for life train.

And out of all teams McDavid would leave for Toronto to have playoffs success?

Fanbases are dumb - see the chunk of this one that wants to trade Bouchard.

People are going to need to wrap their heads around the fact that a 100m cap means that guys are going to be earning some pretty eye popping salaries.

I think the threat of an offer sheet is a more likely scenario than a trade by the Oilers in Bouchard's case.

Bouchard is probably the 2nd best playoffs defenseman in the NHL after Makar

He is a legit top 10D in the league and a guy who would get 60-70 pts on any talented team where he is a big feature on the teams PP1.

If the Oilers win the cup pay him whatever. 11M/12M/13M is fine then

If they lose then ask him and Mcdavid to split 26M however they like (16M for 97 and 10M for Bouchard is what I think would make sense)

I think a team would have to get into the four first round picks compensation level to even get Edmonton thinking about not matching.
