He has done excellent in the playoffs no doubt about it.

I've never got the hype on Bouchard. The man has been a pylon last two stanley cup finals. He'd be a 40-50 point dman +/- -30 without MrDrai. Signing him to a monster deal will be a mistake. Oilers dont make the mistake.

Bouchard has 2 years left before ufa. Team could just opt to take him to arbitration if he chooses not to file (should only do that if McDavid does not sign an extension).

The 2nd giveaway still ended as a 2 on 3. Walman let the guy in the zone, let him stop and set up.

Feels like both Nurse and Bouchard need a Tanev or Methot type D partner. Or basically a 30 year old Ekholm. But, with the money these 2 are going to get paid, you expect better out of them. You can't play them together. So, one of them will end up getting the tougher minutes.

There is no chance this negotiation makes it to an arbitration award.

I'm not even sure Bouchard would file because a big time offersheet is a very serious threat to the Oilers here.

NHL team has the option to use team elected arbitration. But, that could backfire in that it may tick off the player which creates a bad team environment. It is very rarely used.

Yes I am concerned if players are going to to be able to negotiate off of the project cap numbers two years from now rather than the current cap. It will make the UFA market pretty untenable for the upcoming season (though it might also mean that some players who don't get the offers they want risk a short term deal).
