Unfortunately, Bouch had a tough one last night, just like the team. But he's been great since the first 2 LA games. He's arguably been our best and most consistent player throughout the playoffs. However, he cannot make up for the shit play of Nurse, the odd brainfart from Wallman, and now, Ekholms struggles.

How much are ya'll expecting Bouchard to get this summer? Dahlin got 11m x 8 in Oct. 2023, surely Bouchard gets more than that given the cap increases the past 2 season, no?

You cant really use any contract Buffalo or Ottawa has as they have to considerably overpay guys just to want to play for them.

Also Dahlin has the higher pedigree and is the face of their franchise. I dont see Bouchard getting that same amount of money.

Who did Ottawa overpay? Jake Sanderson is probably a top 10 D in the league and they locked him up for 8x8 starting last year. Stutzle is on 8x8 until 2030-31, Tkachuk 8x7 years. These are amazing value contracts - closer to what we see out of Florida.

You have to go back in time and look at when the contracts were signed. Sanderson signed September 6th, 2023. He has completed his first season with 4 goals and 28 assists. Ottawa paid for potential.

Joshua Norris signed his contract July 2022, after putting up 55 points (career high). They paid him with an 8x8 contract as well but hasnt lived up to that contract.

Drake Batherson recieved 5M x 6 years after a 34 point season hoping that he would break out.

Chabot after his 55 point season was locked up to an 8x8 deal as well.

Tkachuk was immediately locked up to his 8 year deal after his ELC despite having a career high of 45 points.

My point is that Ottawa throws money at potential. Sometimes its worked for them and other times it hasnt. We arent in the same position as a team like Ottawa. We arent in a position where hope that the potential pays off.
