Player Discussion Evan Bouchard

I prefer Ekholm's highs and lows. Bouchard's lows are too low
People saying Bouchard's lows are overblown and aren't that bad are definitely bias. He's had some atrocious games. Defending his lows is just insane.

That said If Bouchard keeps up this high level of play vs FLA he may have turned the corner. Playoff hockey is the hardest, most intense hockey and probably the best way to judge a player.

His playoffs aside from the first two games have been great and we would have been eliminated without him playing at this high level.

Right.

Everyone except you is biased.

But this is you, you have a personal problem with Bouchard that goes beyond anything we discuss.

Evan Bouchard has been the best defenseman in these entire playoffs and it's not f***ing close.

I am bias, but so are you guys. (at least I admit it)

All I was saying is that Bouchard's lows this season were bad and ya'll don't acknowledge them.

Anyways this playoffs he has clearly shown he can be a 10 million dollar guy. I'm happy for him and hope he can help us bring this home in the finals.

This is really f***ing dumb. Go to YouTube and look up Ryan Nugent-Hopkins dangles Nik Lindstrom into retirement.

We don't care about your issue with Bouchard on a personal level, your criticism of ever spec of his game is utter nonsense

Lawd knows i don't agree w/ that poster on much, but he isn't wrong.

What the hell you even talking about w/ your Lidstrom analogy? What a ridiculous attempt. Lidstrom got deked once so..... there's that. Cringe worthy

Nobody is upset if Bouchard gets beat the odd time by a great play or effort. It's called playing defense

The issue all season long was his glaring giveaways to the other team. Throwing muffins into the slot, or drop passing a breakaway at center ice...on the PP, or stop skating on the backcheck, etc.

Sorry but Lidstrom wasn't guilty of those kind of plays over and over, and there isn't a Youtube video dedicated to it like there is on Bouchard

Nobody cares what anyone's opinion is on whether or not Bouchard should have made 4N. That's debatable. I was personally on team Bouchard
But LITERALLY the fact that he didn't even make the list is the indication that his season was filled with GLARING mistakes

I love being called the "contrarian" by some of you guys but I'll happily take it knowing I'm calling out posts like this rubbish.
I'm atleast capable and honest enough to know a great player who had a polarizing season b/c of bad mistakes simultaneously, and am not on here calling out posters like it didn't happen and making dishonest takes like......"his mistakes were overblown".

Just watched Oiler playoff special. Hymans reaction to Bouchards giveaway in game 1 was pretty animated in a bad way

I guess Hyman must be bias towards him.

So. I was talkin some shit about Bouch BUT now we all know it was due to Ekholm being not 100%, and Darnell Nurse still on this team. We can Seth Jones him to a team (no retention) cause Nurse is BUILT for big dumb teams that will not make it past the first round after years of failure. He will lead that team to the bottom and to the top 16 spot, its what Nurse needs. Give Bouch his money + 2 mil I dont give a f*** we need that cap space for this actual NHL player!

He still is #1 and it's a good problem to have
Bouchard is better than Ekholm in the playoffs and that's no knock on Ekholm. What Bouchard has been doing in the playoffs the last two years is bordering on historically good and he was largely good the two years prior to that, I actually think he's been better this playoff than last defensively and that's with no Ekholm.

Imagine going to an Oiler subforum on HFOil and being biased AGAINST an oiler player.

Florida forwards will Target him
They know he is the main man back there on breakouts
Hoping a bit of a mean streak comes out from him
He Will be tested
Good news is our whole backend can move the puck up the ice even if Bouchard gets targeted. This is the most mobile back end I’ve ever seen the Oilers ice.

Think of all the fans that have to watch their regular season wonders like Matthews turn into pumpkins in the playoffs. There is a crazy amount of those kinds of players that never bring it when the pressure ramps up and the games really matter. You find elite guys that bring it in playoffs, you damn well better keep them.

I know you two are super smart and don't need to waste your time with stats or anything beyond your infallible memories, but it's biased in that context, not bias.

It's really amazing, especially when he's one of our three best players right now and arguably the best overall D-man. Reminds me of the other Oiler "fans" on here who claimed that McJesus and Drai were to blame for the Oilers losing Game 7.

Skinner let in 3 goals in game 7 and you blamed him solely for the loss. You downright scoffed and went berserk at the notion that the Oilers only scored 1 as a contributing factor for the loss.

Skinner let in 3 goals last game and was by and large considered excellent unanimously. But we had to score 5 to win

Since you weren't on here throwing a tantrum as per usual and crying, it's a safe bet you agreed.

So...it's pretty evident who's bias....or biased....or "biapolar" when it comes to posting

You're clearly are a poster of convieanance and not someone who relies on facts or logic. Going along with the status quo and patting yourself on the back is just...........embarrassing.

Try to be better. It's getting predictable now.

Yes, I'm the one who throws tantrums says the guy mid-tantrum over a one-sentence reply... How many times did you have to edit that post there, BumbleBrain? ;)

Also, you don't need "are" if you already said, "you're," which is a contraction of "you are."

That's a lot of words for "I'm just doing the opposite" I guess it's easier to bury nonsense in wall of jargon

I get paid to watch hockey, not to be a Grammar Nazi. Relax

BTW I did say Bouchard has been amazing and we would not be here without him. He is our internal SMYTHE winner. I have no bones to pick with Bouchard, but you guys keep going.

I know there are regular-season struggles sometimes, but he brings it in when it matters most. This is the most productive playoff performer on the back end since Bobby Orr. Ask Leaf fans if they'd rather have regular-season performers or playoff performers.

If we don't give him 10m a year, 20+ teams will be lined up to do so. We are in great shape if he and Walman can lead the puck movement on this back end for the foreseeable future.
