Value of: Evan Bouchard for Best Available Goalie

I can only imagine the frustration Oiler fans must feel......Broberg and Holloway gone for mere peanuts. Yet another year of McJeezus wasted away due to goaltending.............

Seems like they are cursed no matter who comes in net..........so not really sure it matters tbh. And no I def. wouldn't give the Oilers Demko for Bouchard..........he could be the X factor to finally put them over the top. Rather they keep their fans in a perpetual state of having blue balls then do that.........
Do you know something I don't? Aren't the Oilers playing game 5 tonight? Didn't the nucks coach say he's not interested in coaching your team today? Weird day to flex imo

During tonight’s broadcast they brought up Bouchards upcoming restricted free agency, and Edmonton has to decide if he is in their future

I was wondering what Edmonton could get in return for Bouchard who is an RFA this summer.

I think he is looking for $70-$80 million and his game leaves a lot to be desired as we have seen when he is without Ekholm
Can I interest you in a slightly used Carey Price? As is, no warranty included.

only ones clamouring for a Bouchard trade for peanuts are the ones who have never had a defenseman as potent as Bouchard in thier franchise history

Demko is......... trash

Demko is......... trash

No he's been injured a lot.......if you want to define him as trash then sure. When he's playing (which unfortunately hasn't been very often the last couple years) he's been a top 5 goalie in the league..........something you probably wouldn't be able to recognize due to your goaltending situation.......which is a more appropriate definition of trash

Be that as it may, I think that even the biggest Vancouver diehard can admit that a frequently injured Demko with one year left, a knee made of wilted lettuce, coming off an .889 season doesn't fetch Bouchard, regardless of the lesser additions.

Definitely, he just needs a defense first guy like a left handed Chris Tanev stapled to him, which would also help him grow his defensive game. In most circumstance I'd say the Oilers would be moronic to move him, but unfortunately (or fortunately since I'm a Flames fan :sarcasm:) Bowman, Jackson and Holland have f***ed the team with high cap hits and NMCs, while rarely addressing the need of defense first players and effectively addressing issues between the pipes.

Because of this, I think he could be moved, but he's going to land a good haul that in theory should be able to address those needs. It's funny saying tis after last summer, but I think the Blues could be the best trade partner. I wonder if the Blues would entertain something built around Binnington and Parayko for Bouchard and Kane

Yeah that's not gonna work for either team ............Demko doesn't have much value now at all most Van fans prefer to sign him on a reasonable 1-2 year show me deal then trade him as well. We won't get fair value for him - better to let him try to rebuild his value by being healthy for a year.

the problem is that if you move Bouchard, you immediately need another Bouchard, and they're way harder to come by than a halfway decent goalie than can stop 90% of the pucks fired his way. The right side UFA market is a hellscape. Ekholm is getting old, Nurse stinks every playoffs. Walman's been very good but if we trade Bouchard he has to go back to his right side and he wasn't as effective there.

Edmonton doesn't need a "Bouchard" level talent in net. They need a Blackwood-esque "pretty good" guy. They should be able to get that guy for lesser pieces.

Also f*** those talent poaching Blues straight to hell. There's bad blood between our franchises and I can't see us dealing in good faith anytime soon.

Like I said the only reason I think it's even a possibility is because of the cap situation and NMCs. He's an ideal offer sheet candidate for a team with room that thinks they'll be in the playoff picture the next few years.

It's really a no-win situation for the Oilers IMO since they only have about 9.5m in space for next season... which Bouchard may eat all of... so any moves to fill the roster or find improvements are relying on guys waiving NMCs, trading Kane and maybe buyouts as a last resort.

I don't think there is too much bad blood after Blues handed Oilers Fischer+3rd for free.

Also, if Bouchard signs an offersheet with another club then good riddance. Oilers take the picks and the cap space.

They don’t if they want any prayer of contending next year. We’re going nowhere fast with our best RD being Ty Emberson.
