GDT: Europe vs. Sweden

Oh missed a goal, taking out the trash, reminded me of this game. This is lousy hockey. No it's not a chess game stupid commentators, it's Sweden playing very, very badly. What the hell happened to the D?

Seriously though, what is the rationale of not playing your best player?

Further, what is the rationale of playing STRALMAN instead of two-time Norris winning KARLSSON, especially when you are down a goal with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd period of am elimination game?

Seriously, am I missing something? What is happening?
 
At least the Euros are showing some energy. Bet they will be a lot happier when they win. Thank the flying spaghetti monster that Sweden will be out in ten minutes or so. :shakehead

Possible? Sure, I thought it was possible. Not likely, but definitely possible. The team has good players. Many of them are past their prime, some are way past their prime. But all of the Dmen are or have been top-pairing Dmen in the NHL at some point in their career. Even though most of them are past their prime, in a short tournament, they can elevate their play and have a ton of experience. Kopitar is one of the best players in the world. Other forwards are pretty good too. Halak is beast when he is on his game, which he apparently is this tournament. Not a team to be taken lightly.

Have you watched this tournament? Best game he was the best dman by far and this game too yet he's stuck on the bench and Hedman and Stralman pile on the GA. Anyway, Sweden's problem I don't mind but that coach is boring as hell.
 
The digital advertising boards have really grown on me. Also like the little display they show after someone wins.

I agree, it is old defensive coaching. It is not funny to watch and it doesn't seem effective either.

If Sweden loses against Team Europe, it is a huge fiasco. They did lose the training game earlier.
