This can’t be officially put to rest, but spiritually it’s dead horse time.
The real indicator… the old ballpark site in Eugene is under construction with a main stand due to be completed in November. Lane United FC already announced their effort to join USL League One, and has committed to playing at that site… Civic Park. Whether they join next year or 2026 (there’s already up to 4-6 teams joining that league next year) is still to be determined.
What this means for our purposes is they’re pretty much abandoning the Glenwood idea. Which is also to say that the hockey dream there is very likely done as well.
An aside… the state of Oregon did pledge money to Hillsboro and Eugene ballparks. Hillsboro is going ahead after getting more money from the city of Hillsboro. Eugene decided to hold a vote on their contribution to their ballpark effort, and that failed 68-32. So they’re acting like they’re moving. Where? Not a freaking clue, because nobody’s stepping up in the Northwest at the moment to claim them.
(Speaking of USL-1, I can’t really be bothered to go through some threads to see if a certain soul has mentioned Portland Hearts of Pine yet.)
