Wait till Eugene sees the dramatic decrease in attendance, season ticket sales and even more so in Jersey sales (outside of Chabot, Tkachuk and White no one's worth it).

The drop from this year to next will be even worst than last years.

Who wants to meet outside the CTC for a good old fashion LeBron like Sens Jersey Burn? We chant Melnyk out, drink a little ( a lot), share a laugh, a cry.. sound good?

Dramatic decrease? How much more can it decrease from however many still pay for tickets? It's obvious there's a terrible stand-off happening and unfortunately I don't think it will be enough for more people to stop showing up and paying.

I think when the time comes to spend EM will spend, but probably never enough to satisfy some fans, that is if he still owns the team by the time they contend again. Or people will be upset over who they brought in & spent the money on, it's going to be impossible to please everyone especially on here. I just hope they are able to put together a competitive team sooner rather than later & I certainly think they have a good number of good prospects/players to build with & more coming over the next few drafts.

You'd think we're coming off a dynasty or something reading this post.

When he signed Bobby Ryan I felt that was a sign he was willing to spend money when nessesary. Unfortunately, Since then he hasn’t given a big contract to a single player.

A lot has happened since that time, they went from a contending team to a team that sucked big time, so much so that the decision was made to rebuild.

He also lost roughly half his money, which may have factored into the decision to rebuild.

Cash is king, and unfortunately we have one of the 2/3 poorest owners in the NHL atm.

We signed Methot to a pretty lucrative deal, 4 years x 4,9 for a 29 year old defensive dman...

Here's the thing, "spending" in 2008 is not the same as "spending" in 2019. NHL salaries have outpaced what Melnyk, in any scenario, is able to, or willing to, spend.

In 2008/09 the salary cap was $56.7 million. And we were one of the teams "excited" about having the extra room to play with.

The Senators figure to be among the group that will make use of the extra cap room. Earlier this month, when asked about the impending rise in the cap, Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said he was prepared to authorize Murray to spend to the limit “dollar for dollar.”

New salary cap a boost for Sens

This year, the salary floor will be ~$60 million.

So when you actually look at it, while we're spending significantly less in relation to other teams, Melnyk is actually spending more than he ever has.

But unfortunately, like 10 years ago, he still maxes out at that $55-60 million level.

So unless something drastic happens, like a partnership, there is a 0% chance that Melnyk will be able to spend to the cap, or even close to it, in the coming years.

When the Sens don’t give Duclair a QO because they don’t want to spend the 2-3 million he’d get in arbitration.. fyous is a farce

I’m looking forward to the back loaded three year contract Colin White signs before he’s priced out of Ottawa

Two more years of Brady Tkachuk... with the way good RFAs get paid after the ELC he’s going to be gone when he’s demanding 8-9 in two years

Will the club give Chabot the 8+ he’s going to demand?
