ESPN+ and Penguins Games

No, because TNT isn't a RSN. They televise national games.
NBC televises nationally in the USA. NBC doesn't televise nationally in Brazil. I could get NBC games with the NBC broadcast on NHL.tv with a VPN set to Brazil. Even playoff games.

That's something I'd consider. I'm certainly not doing the Dinsey Bundle option for 4 games.
Understandable, hell you can go out to a sports bar for any of those 4 games that interest you. I think there is a "hockey only" ESPN+ monthly subscription that is even less$, if you want to investigate. You are not the intended customer for this type of package. Me, being a Penguins fan living on the west coast am smack dab in the middle of their crosshairs.

Ummm. Not exactly. NHL Center Ice no longer exists. ESPN+ is basically the replacement. Irrespective of whether you have Sat/CATV/Stream (e.g. YouTube TV, Hulu +) you will need ESPN+ for a la carte selection of out of market games, ESPN/TNT, and whatever NC local/regional carrier you need for the 'Canes.

According to this, Center Ice is still available. But TV answerman could just be some dude talking out of his ass.

This is more confusing that it should be, of course. I think TV Answer Man's reply isn't complete. If you go to NHL.COM, and select streaming options, they have apparently up to date info, which I copy below. NHL.TV is not available for US viewers:

ESPN+ (US Users Only)
Starting next season, hockey has a new home on ESPN+. Access over 1000 out-of-market games and 75 exclusive games (US users only).

If ESPN+ is the new go to for streaming out of market I’m not too upset about it.

Regarding cable/satellite, I’ve had Direct for so long that for the last 4 years I’ve been getting Sunday ticket for free so that’s hard to give up lol

I think NHL Center Ice still exists (i.e. satellite/cable). ESPN+ is replacing NHL.TV streaming

I'm hoping all you need is ESPN+ and a VPN to get every game.
Does the VPN trick actually work? I tried it with MLB but it didn't work. I think it was using my credit card address or something in my account info to determine my location, rather than my IP.

I may get ESPN+ now that they took over Bundesliga and La Liga

Not making me like you ‘muricans with statements like that and your espn+

It's worked for NHL.tv for years, but if ESPN+ is only available in USA, then it might not work any more. I guess you wouldn't be able to access ESPN+ with a VPN set to another country and it would get blacked out in the USA.

The roll out of the new channels has been really poorly done. I did find this:

NHL Center Ice still exists for cable and satellite subscribers. NHL.tv, the streaming only service, no longer exists as an a la carte purchase. It is now bundled into ESPN+. For marketing purposes, it makes sense to call it "NHL on ESPN+".Jul 30, 2021

I hate local blackouts. So dumb. I don’t have cable and have espn+. Looks like I’ll need to keep using streams.

I have to find streams for all the Pens Caps games due to being 40ish mins from DC. It f***in blows

Edit: I feel like for the past 5ish years, that its been needlessly complicated to figure what apps and streaming services to watch the Pens on. Particularly during local blackouts, I f***ING PAID TO WATCH ALL 82 GAMES, SHOW ME ALL 82 GAMES FOR f*** SAKE

Then there's navigating seeing them on either the NHL TV app and/or NHL gamecenter and even Sling TV which I watched like half the games on last year

Put it on one or maybe two goddamn apps, it's that simple. This stuff raises my blood pressure irrationally

It sounds like NHL live may still be around for Canada so I can get that. Only a few games would be blacked out.

Why can't the NHL and sports get behind making it easy for the consumer.

Let me watch games.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know they were doing away with NHL.tv.

NHL.tv was pretty great and with a VPN, I could even get black outed games, including the playoffs. Hopefully that's the case with ESPN+, too.

The UFC moved to ESPN+ a few years ago. From what I've heard, there were some growing pains, but for the most part people seemed to end up being fine with it. $70/year is actually cheaper than NHL.tv was and I get the added benefit of the UFC. Getting the playoff games is all that has me worried.

You could get ESPN+ and YouTube TV and still be saving money compared to cable. At least where I live. Just did this. Splitting the cost of YouTube TV with mom & dad too (you get five accounts to share), so it's like $20.

Actually, YouTube TV + ESPN+ is cheaper than NHL.TV if I recall.

Is AT&T Sportsnet on YouTube TV?

Our choices in Canada are Centre Ice via your tv provider $209+ tax early bird or NHL Live streaming for $179+ tax. If, like me, you want to watch other teams/sports you also need Sportsnet and TSN. It all soon adds up especially when compared to what those in the US pay.

I don't have cable either, Google Chromecast + YouTube TV + fiberoptic internet is SO superior I can't count the ways. I do use illegal streams to catch my Dolphins, because I am a masochist, and usually Miami football is irrelevant by the time November rolls around. Tempted to do so for NHL, as I have nothing but complete contempt for ESPN, but I'll probably just cough up the dough this year. Plus, season 3 of Mandalorian is forthcoming, so there's that. But f*** ESPN.
Today's game was fun

So what you are saying that they made it anti consumer

If you have a firestick, I use an app that cost $80 every 6 months. It has every channel, sport event, movie, etc. Including all hockey, all Canadian, and all is channels. I'd show you how to get it, but I don't know if it's allowed.

Yeah, it'll be a one-time fee for the package. Then you'll get random games on the monthly ESPN+ subscription.

It's going to be the $5.99/month + some type of one-time or monthly fee for the package. I anticipate a ton of frustration opening week as they're not being particularly clear about this.
