What a rough day for injuries.

Colorado is going to need to hope that is 3 weeks and not 5 or more if they want to have any shot at getting in.

And after looking at their upcoming schedule I am not even sure they can lose him for 3 weeks and get in. It is tough.

This one on paper looks like it will be a devastating one for the team...

We will find out...

Take it from here Varly.

Edit:

Barrie
Guenin
Holden
Redman
Stuart
Wilson

Is that who they'll be rolling with? Am I missing someone?

I feel bad for the guy but this pretty much locks the Avs as an under 96.5 team.

Thanks Bodog. :yo:

Yeah well..

If people want to see an epic goaltending show with a lot of saves and one of the worst blue lines in history....

I present you....

Your 2015 Colorado Avalanche ( for the next couple of weeks)

Hejda - Barrie
(good shutdown D but getting old and not a good puckmover)+ (kid who is already struggling because we ask him to do way too much)
Guenin - Redmond
(very mediocre AHL top pairing)
Holden - Stuart
(help).

It only takes a Barrie injury to ice the worst puck moving defensive core in the history of the NHL.

I don't want Roy to trade anyone (besides ROR for good value). After accepting that this ends any playoff hopes, I am a bit curious how big of a trainwreck it will be.

You're missing Hejda. He's probably the best of the bunch too with EJ gone.

Our D is bad even with EJ so just imagine what's going to happen now. Good luck, Varly.

Colorado has had bad luck with injuries this season. Better luck there and they could be in a playoff spot. But this may make them an interesting team at the trade deadline if they weren't already.

Avs schedule until the end of February is rough. The only teams they play that are really below them in the standings are Minnesota and Arizona, and Minnesota is a better team than their record would indicate.

I'd play the next week. See how they do. If everything is slipping away. You got to bring up Hishon, Siemens, Elliott. Put Varly on ice. Trade Briere and Hejda. Evaluate the team from there.

Is it the same knee he injured in the whole golf cart fiasco years ago? Tough break, he was having a very good season.

If the Avs got the #1 or #2 pick, would they trade up to get #3 Hanifin?
