A bit of perspective; the Canes only gave Haula 2 days off after his wife had to have a still-borne miscarriage, which soured his relationship with the team.

What a villain.

Yeah this ain't Europe. You're not getting a year of paternity leave and IDK how many days one needs off work when your wife has a miscarriage (I needed precisely zero), but two seems pretty reasonable.

The absolute kicker for this is that Haula was a member of the Hurricanes 4 years ago and was not at all pleased with his treatment here going so far as to embrace the role of self proclaimed villain whenever his teams played the Canes.

And every year since, as a Pred, Bruin, and Devil, he's ended his season shaking the hand of his former team in defeat.

It sucked, but tbh it is quite common. Odds are any couple who gets married in their 30's and starts having kids late in life will endure it.

The thing is we've taken the normal trials and tribulations of a human life and made them into something that has to be internalized and categorized and examined rather than something that should be quietly endured.

Considering his career basically overlapped the Islander Dynasty, Oiler Dynasty, and Mario's 2 cup wins. Wasn't much wiggle room if he wasn't on one of those 3 teams.
