This "matchweek" kicks off with a rescheduled derby after a slight breeze made Merseysiders hide. A midweek Merseyside derby promises to see some folks wake up having a very, very bad Thursday. The matchweek proper sees a London derby on Saturday, with West Ham hosting Brentford. Elsewhere, the battle for European spots is heating up, including a south coast derby when Southampton takes on Bournemouth, but also featuring Brighton hosting Chelsea, Villa welcoming Ipswich, Newcastle traveling to City, and Fulham clashing with Forest. We also get a relegation six pointer, as Spurs host United in a battle for which Big 6 club is having the silliest season. With the proper results, we could end the matchweek with United and Spurs in 14th and 16th place respectively. Luckily there's quite a gap from 16th to 17th, so they should be safe.

Last Derby at Goodison. Moyes at the wheel. Everton finding a bit of form. Could be an interesting one. 3 here and LFC won’t care what happens in the Carabao Cup and Plymouth games before it. They’ll probably take a similar team to the PSV to Plymouth

LFC basically using Slot’s preferred XI. Don’t love Diaz at 9 in this game but Slot seems he wants to get the best eleven guys out there. Bradley starts with Trent on bench as Trent is still not 100%

LFC bad defending for the Everton goal but that was never a free kick. Guess Oliver hates them too. Glad they got another back quick but should be 0-1. Ndiaye looks like he hurt himself diving again.

Apparently this is the first time Liverpool have ever named a top-flight starting XI without an English player in it

Top-flight or just PL era? I sort of remember that some matchday in the 1980s they didn't have an English player in the starting line-up? Lots of Scots, Irish, Welsh players + Grobbelaar (Zimbabwe). Maybe they had one English player there every time (e.g Sammy Lee, Steve McMahon)? Phil Neal was often the lone English player in the line-up in the early 80s, I think.

The post I saw specifically said "top flight" and not Premier League

Bradley commits a second yellow offense and nothing. I guess when you're a young fullback and Michael Oliver is the ref, you can get away with anything

(as long as you're not black)

And yet your initial complaint was that Oliver didn't do enough - not that the call was wrong.
Because once he made the call, the yellow card has to be given. I'm pretty sure his heels were clipped regardless, but the point is that Oliver is incredible inconsistent and somehow each inconsistency benefits Liverpool.

Anyway, Konate gets to play basketball and Jones gets to go studs up. About to AI a video of Coote calling Arteta a wanker

That is a proper derby and nothing like the soft ones like Tottenham/Arsenal or Man United/Manchester City

This game mean the world for Everton.
