Reinbacher had a horrible d+1, what are you talking about lil guy? Instead of being emotional and name calling why not prove he didn’t have a horrific d+1?
He was Laval best defenceman in the ahl last year when he came from overseas. He's definitely no Cam York lol

Did you guys traded a future star in Cutter Gauthier for Drysdale???? LOL

He actually played really well once he got out of the shitty team in the NL and joined the Rocket. He's doing great as a rookie in the AHL.
We need to stop trying to bring any sense in this guy, he believes that the Flyers made a great trade when they sent Gauthier for Drysdale.

We could probably trade him Mailloux for Luchenko with his hockey knowledge.

I don't see any legitimate argument against Hutson. Especially with how he's played down the stretch, when the Habs have needed him the most. He's been dominating possession for the last 2 months, with a 59.3% xG share in his last 20 games...

Yeah, precisely this.

I do think he will struggle more against better competition, who are just more competent at gaining the zone. But a lot of defending is just keeping the puck out of your zone, and he does that really well.

He's a guy you probably want to keep off the ice vs the other team's top offensive units, but it's not like you have to gameplan around that fact, as he's still not a huge liability or anything. Pair him with a heavier defensive partner who can interrupt the cycle and defend the front of the net.
The chart says it all - this was far from a "locked up" "AINEC" etc race until the last two weeks. In the last two weeks, Hutson has gone nuclear while Celebrini has gone "cold" for him. So it's now Lane in the driver's seat.

The reason that this thread gets so vitriolic is because a minority of posters from each fan base keep coming in and disrespecting the other players to try to prop theirs up. For the MTL fans, it's people saying "the race is over, give it to Hutson, lol cry more" when the race isn't over until it's freaking over. It's very annoying. It's also very annoying when Celebrini or Michkov fans over-emphasize Hutson's weaknesses (which are real, but are overshadowed by his strengths especially in the past two weeks).

Wolf fans, I give you a pass. He was probably never going to win it but he deserves more attention.

No matter who gets the Calder I am just so glad the Flyers drafted Matvei. He is playing great and if he had better line mates all season and a #1C no telling where he would be on the list. Just last night he should have had at least two more points. It's like that almost every game! Thank you Kent Hughes.
Fun little player. He disappears for long stretches, but when he’s on (like right now), he sure is entertaining. I think he’s got Sergei Samsonov type upside. Flyers fans got themselves a nice little winger.

I think people are also trying to project this season out to what their career impacts will be which is silly. There's probable scenarios for how their careers will go (Celebrini a top 5 two-way center, Michkov a top 5 point scoring winger, Hutson a top 5 point producing defenceman, Wolf a top 5/10 goalie - no disrespect to Wolf meant there, just goalies are goddamn impossible to project), but this is just about who's having the best season so far.

I think there is a distinction between posting out weaknesses in a players case for the calder vs simply shitting on the player. Out of all the finalists Celebrini has had, IMO, the most universal praise over his play. I've gone on record many times saying he'll be the best player out of the group but Hutsons season this year is just more impressive statistically and historically.

I've said that wolfs statline isn't impressive enough to win against this crop of rookies. Doesn't mean that I don't think he'll be a top 3-5 goalie in the world for the next decade.

I try to just stay out of the Michkov talk, my apologies to flyers fans I got caught up in the trash the past few days.

He’s a secondary assist merchant? Can you prove he’s not ? Why are you so defensive about what he is, based on what he’s displayed at the NHL level.
Fascinating how people get upset at straightforward observations and need to call them 'defensive'.

Here's another straightforward observation: Defensemen get more secondary assists because they're the ones who start the scoring chances, either by exiting their zone, making the first pass, or QBing from the blueline.

Michkov doesn't disappear for long stretches. His lack of points is due to the shitty coach he had all year and bad teammates that can't put the puck in the net. He makes ridiculous passes night after night and often comes away with nothing to show for it because he linemates can't finish.

Then again this feels like a bait comment.

Yeah that does feel like bait which is unneeded. Michkov often got the Demidov treatment from Torts this year. P/60 doesn't scale well because it's hard to get into a rhythm when you're being shafted on ice time.

Michkov will have cold stretches as any elite player does, he won't be unique in that regard.

Michkov looks like a legit talent. He may have been held back by Tortorella, or he's simply taking a step forward in his development. Either way, the kid looks like a future star.

What could have been if the Habs had Hutson AND Michkov (with Demidov in pipeline).
Would be insane, but Ashton Kutcher taught me that the laws of the universe would make it unlikely that we would get Michkov and Demidov in b2b drafts
