I mean this is so silly.

Hutson was getting shit on all summer and early this season. People saying he wasn't even an NHLer or was supposedly terrible 5v5. Even after one weak game against Toronto a few days ago the haters showed up in force to claim they'd been right all along.

Now Hutson is having a historic rookie campaign, leading some top notch forward prospects in scoring and turning the Habs season around. Hell, he's currently on an 8 game point streak as a rookie Dman.

The truth is that Habs fans are lighting up these threads because a TON of posters on here have barely watched the kid play but have all kinds of opinions about his potential.

Pronman was just another example of it.

If they want to act like a victim at The Athletic because they hired someone who doesn't even get player bio's correct and thinks Hutson "could still become a top4 Dman", then people will see through that BS.
This literally proves the point of that Athletic quote

Except I'm not the person doing that.

If some other Habs fan is massively overhyping him, that has nothing to do with me. You want to attack me? Then find something I SAID, to attack. I believe this forum has rules to this effect.

But if you think its reasonable to compare Mete's start to his career to Hutson's, then you've got bigger issues.

The 'Habs fan' is a monolithic and mythological creature that lives inside the head of people with LHIS.

That's the Lane Hutson Insecurity Syndrome. Oddly enough, mostly fans of specific teams seem to be affected.

Wolf, Hutson, Celebrini in that order currently
I see much more of a case for wolf atm than celebrini or michkov

He’d have to start 70% of calgarys remaining games while maintaining current stats is the caveat. 42 starts won’t cut it. Has to be 50 ish

Wolf in an interesting case. He is only 6’0 and quite thin fo his size. And he is proving that good smaller goalies might still have a future at NHL level. Kudos to him.

What records and rare milestones would those be?

With 36 games to play;

He's 22 points away from 60 points, which has been done by only 9 rookie dmen, and hasn't been done since 91-92.

He's 32 points away from 70 points, which has been done by only two rookie dmen and hasn't been done since 88-89.

He's 38 points away from tying the record for rookie dman points.

He's 25 assists away from tying the rookie D assists record.

He's 17 ES points away from tying the rookie D record for ES points.

In his last 25 games, he has 27 points, 24 of which are assists, and 16 ES points.

Even if you pace from the season's start, he's going for 5g 63a 68pts, which would place him top 5 all-time for rookie D points and #1 all-time for rookie D assists in a season.

He is also below average defensively. Wolf wins. This was a topic on The Point on the NHL Network radio this afternoon. Wolf was the leading candidate, with Hutson & Celebrini in a dead heat for second.

If Hutson beats any kind of rookie D record, he'll be hard to beat.

He's not below average defensively. Remove empty net situations and he's almost even. His GA/60 in the last 25 games was around 2.60 before the Toronto game. You haven't watched him play.

Hutson - 38 pts
Michkov - 33 pts
Celebrini - 32 pts
Stankoven - 23 pts

If Hutson wins the points race by 5 points or more.....there is no chance anyone else wins it except Wolf.

Maybe fix that up, it’s unreadable as is.

All of this vitriol over a handful of fanbases glee at astonishing prospect play just seems backwards when you stop to think about it. I know, HF etc, but so many happy fans all kinds of angry over having great rookies seems nonsensical.
I mean Lane Hutson can score as many points as he wants to and I'm still not going to feel sad about having Celebrini on my team. Other teams can have good players too.

I don't think there is a Habs fan on here who would think you should be sad about having Celebrini on your team. Future Superstar right there!
