Epic Calder Race 2024-25

Another thing that's been going on is the Sharks have been without their 1D for 8 games now. The defense is absolute garbage even with him, Walman is literally the only competent puck mover from the back and transition as well as o zone possession has really suffered. Celebrini works well with Walman especially on the pp, so he has been missing his presence.

His return should change things.
As the best player in your team, you drive the to make the play. You control the flow of your offense. Hutson did that and earn the trust of MSL. MSL started to use Hutson at every opportunity. He even double shifted Hutson when he wasn't satisfied with Struble.

Weird irrelevant reply

You don't even know what you're talking about. Habs were terribad early on and everything you wrote there is false.

First 20 games
Hutson 11 points -12
Habs record 7-11-2 .400

Last 21 games
Hutson 20 points +5
Habs record 13-7-1 .642

Hutson has the greatest increase in both point production and +/- on the entire Habs squad between the first 20 games and the last 21 games.

He's been the MVP of their resurgence.
Saying 11 in 20 isn’t producing is being absolutely disingenuous. You want to say he’s elevated his play and productivity, that’s fine but don’t pretend that isn’t producing already.

Not really. You complained about Celebrini linemates. I am simply tell you Celebrini didn't get better linemates because he doesn't earn the trust of his coach. You talked about Celebrini depends on Walman. He shouldn't be if he is the best player in your team.

Irrelevant to my post. Just you trying to pump the tires of your guy unprompted.

Where's Mike Kelly?

Hutson needs a 10pts gap to win it. Simply leading rookie scoring as a D is not enough for the fine folks at the NHL network.

Has of today it Hutson easily, age has nothing to do with rookie of the year your one or your not what he's doing has a rookie defense easily beats what Celebrini or Mitchkov are doing has forward and on top he's leading the rookies scoring race.

If you guys are confident in Lane, bet your house on it!

As of today, this is what people putting their money where there mouth is think:
  • Celebrini -250
  • Hutson +300
  • Michkov +600
A reminder that when Celebrini was injured, Hutson was +4000 and Michkov was -800, so the line moves a ton. Point being: nobody has it "easily" with ~40 games left. But it's fun to pretend otherwise, right??!?!

I bet when the odds were 30:1 a little over a month ago.

I saw the game. The line he played on is the 3rd line? Which line he used to play in before?
He started with Kunin and Smith, but the Sharks had a forward injury early in the game, so there was a lot of different combinations from that point on.

If Celebrini is not playing with the top line then his chance of winning the Calder will not be good. In the OT winning goal against the Caps tonight, Hutson played with Suzuki and Caufield (our top 2 scorers).
Sharks don't really have any forwards that stand out to the point where you can say there's a top line in the sense of other teams that have a top line with their best players. Shark forwards break down into four categories.

1. Celebrini
2. Rookies (Smith, Graf, Kovalenko)
3. Vets with some level of scoring ability, but not elite (Granlund, Eklund, Zetterlund, Toffoli)
4. Guys who would be on the fourth line of a good team (the rest of the forwards)

The frustrating thing from a Sharks fan perspective is that the coach seems to prioritize winning over developing his young players and so Celebrini has had many games this year with some fourth-line gritty guy on his left wing instead of consistently prioritizing putting two of his scoring capable forwards with Celebrini on a consistent basis. Celebrini has put up the results he has despite that, but it doesn't make it easier for him.

Hutson plays with more talent and that will always be an advantage for him as far as point production goes.

If you don't know what you're talking about, it would probably be better just not to comment.
