He won a job on merit. Doesn’t say much for the competition. Let’s see how long it lasts.

Hmmm, dunno?

What I saw from him in the preseason doesn't make me feel like he won out a roster spot on merit. Can't imagine Roy is doing cartwheels with excitement about Wally's role with the team.

We're like 213 k under the cap limit now that Engvall has been sent down.

Sure, Gauthier had some good preseason moments, so that's sportingly understandable to a degree.

But all in all, the final decisions entering the season kinda feel like the cap goals were first and foremost on the list of priorities entering this season. Which is like "no duh".

Ultimately, knowing that Cizikas and MacLean are on line 4 and the other three lines are fairly fixed, who forward #12 is right now doesn't really play all that much of a role at this point.

Roy, more than likely, is not too thrilled with any of his options for that fourth line wing. We're not. Figures putting Wally there he may at least gain someone who, in theory, can score more than the others. It is a sound direction to start.

For Wally.....last shot.
