Speculation: Englund long term replacement of Lauzon?

Yeah, I don't imagine there's any long term plan here. He's just a guy they can throw into the dumpster fire while they contend for the #1OA pick this summer, while letting Captain Gravel go back to leading the charge in Milwaukee.

Maybe Lauzon will get traded ( :crossfing: ), maybe he's going to be injured for the rest of the season, who knows. Either way, I don't see Englund as a guy to put any long-term plans on. We have Josi and Skjei as LD, with Wilsby, Stastney, and Molendyk stacked up behind them.

Not to say this Preds braintrust couldn't get hoodwinked into falling for Englund if he comes in and plays well. Heaven knows we've seen them fall for all kinds of useless players who bring physicality, maybe Englund will likewise win them over. But I don't imagine that's the plan going in.

Hopefully Englund is awful, helps us stay in the running for that #1 pick, but at least doesn't fall on Saros or let opponents fall on Saros as much as the rest of our D does. Then he walks away as a UFA on July 1st so we can make room for the incoming youth. :crossfing

He is awful. Worse than Lauzon. But he hits and face punches, so we'll probably give him 18 a night and demote Wilsby/Blankenburg.
