Seven game 7's wasn't this roster. Wings haven't even made the playoffs in 9 years. I think Leafs fans get any success and you guys think the cup is automatically coming. Like Matthews said last night only one team is happy at the end of the year. Winning game 6 on the road facing elimination was crazy growth. Did you hear what Marchand said after the game? Like it's f***ing hard as hell to win the cup...
the pick setting is a type of layering designed into the system...the leafs did it a ton under Babcock it has nothing to do with the players' willingness... lol tell me were they willing to set the picks in game 6 all of a sudden when they eliminated the panthers rim around play using the F2 to cut off the second panther in or was that an adjustment that Berube made? Paul Maurice changed up the gamer florida again in game 7 because the leafs had effectively made the panthers aggressiveness on hard rim arounds vanish in Game 6. it has nothing to do with willingness but I will say to run the type ofdump and chase hockeyBerube wants to play on offence we do not have the personnel on the wing or on D and that needs to be addressed otherwise the leafs will continue to be one and done every time they enter the offensive zone.Well then wouldn't that make the original poster he responded to correct then about the forwards being at fault since they aren't setting any kinds of picks which lead to their D getting hit all the time? Players don't need to be told to slow down forecheckers by skating in front of them to buy your d man an extra second or 2 because you're doing this since you were a teenager. If they need a system designed for how to do this then idk what to tell you. Ottawa and Florida played physical games so they are hitting anyone near the puck so it should be common sense to slow them up when they dump the puck in. Again though, I'm not gonna put blame on the forwards or the system when we could just as easily do the same but don't have the players who are willing to do it consistently.
Ok so what do you want for him? If the leafs wanted to trade him all the leafs brass cellphone batteries would die from incoming calls lolMatthews also threw his teammates under the bus, did you catch that? That shit's just not done, I can't remember a worse Leaf captain in the 50+ years I've been watching.
Look man, I don't go to the Wings board and try to tell everyone there they are wrong about the Wings. The Wings use to choke every year until we finally won in 97. Washington always choked and they broke through once. If you guys completely tear it down you will wish you didn't. Wings were winning president cups and losing in the first round in the 90's. Choking to new jersey. Then we finally won. I see it from a different angle. So many studs on this roster you have to get lucky too....
They keep proving they care more about our team than their teamFunny how all the out-of-towners are telling us to run it back, eh?
Reilly, Matthews, Nylander and Marner are still young? I wish Detroit had any of them! You wanted to see that growth earlier. I don't think you realize the core is not young anymore. So this is not an acceptable result.
What Marchand and Maurice said about the Leafs last night(Tkachuk also had similar comments today on a podcast.)were purely trolling. They would love to see this Leafs core stay together for a few more years because these teams will likely to meet again in the playoffs in the near future.Seven game 7's wasn't this roster. I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong. I'm saying my opinion. You guys have a really good team... made it to the last 5 in game 7. If they won you would be saying blow it up still? When you were up 2-0 you thought it was over?Look man, I don't go to the Wings board and try to tell everyone there they are wrong about the Wings.
I expect the same in return. We know what we are talking about.
Reilly, Matthews, Nylander and Marner are still young? I wish Detroit had any of them!
yeah maybe he should not be -3 and have 3 assists in the cup final while playing against Barkov then he might be a championA man. A leader.
And soon, sometime soon, a champion.
What about the flip side? The Wings use to choke every year until we finally won in 97. Washington always choked and they broke through once. If you guys completely tear it down you will wish you didn't. Wings were winning president cups and losing in the first round in the 90's. Choking to new jersey. Then we finally won. 30 is old? You're not rebuilding? You need a few PIECES. So many teams would kill to have these guys. I for one hope Detroit signs Marner.Rielly is 30, Nylander just turned 29. Marner is 28 already. Matthews is gonna be 28 at the start of next season. It's not young anymore. They are in their primes. And the D is straight up old. They are not getting better, they are what they are. You can have any of them. Please. But together they don't work.

Do you understand how obnoxious it is to go into another team's forum after they've just suffered yet another playoff humiliation and tell them how they should feel and that their team is great? And then go on and on arguing with them?I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong. I'm saying my opinion. You guys have a really good team... made it to the last 5 in game 7. I just find it crazy a guy scores 69 goals in one season and you guys don't want him. And Matthews might have been hurt.
Ok so do you guys want to trade him? He is probably top 3 player in the world. I can't even see a trade where you guys win it. I would give you guys Larkin and 3 first rounds and that's not even enough probably. Like this is insane.Yea, scored 69 then got mysteriously hurt and was not even available most of the series against Boston last year. He is always "hurt" f*** him.
He really took the shine off himself with his performances in game 5 and 7. The 4th goal last night cannot go under any circumstances. He’s still young but boy I definitely don’t look at him as the future #1 anymore. Before this year I had high hopes but he has more to prove now. He’s gotta show everyone consistencyThis series was OVER when Woll took the net. He is an AHL goaltender and nothing more. It is not the same team playing in front of him. The team has absolutely no confidence playing in front of him.
I'm not trying to come across like that. I admire the players on this team. Especially the high end ones...just didn't work out. If I shitted on them it would be better?Do you understand how obnoxious it is to go into another team's forum after they've just suffered yet another playoff humiliation and tell them how they should feel and that their team is great? Dude he has 2 years left on his deal after next season… if they lose in the first or second round again you seriously gotta consider blowing this thing up including trading Matthews. You need to get assets back for these guys. Nylander is probably the harder guy to move since he still has 6 years left on his deal after next year. But you gotta see what kind of haul you can get for your biggest asset if you fail AGAIN!Ok so do you guys want to trade him? He is probably top 3 player in the world. I can't even see a trade where you guys win it. I would give you guys Larkin and 3 first rounds and that's not even enough probably. Like this is insane.
You know there's a salary cap, right? Can't compare today's era to Yzerman's era of Cups when there was no salary cap.30 is old? You're not rebuilding? You need a few PIECES. So many teams would kill to have these guys. I for one hope Detroit signs Marner.
So what if guys run it back and you make it to the conference finals or the Stanley cup but don't win? Why is the expectation cup or bust? All or nothing? Florida lost in the finals the year before they WON!Dude he has 2 years left on his deal after next season… if they lose in the first or second round again you seriously gotta consider blowing this thing up including trading Matthews. You need to get assets back for these guys
Stop blaming fans and media. This is the attitude our players need.
That was a brutal goal, so was the Gadjovich goal in game 3 which gave them the lead 4-3.He really took the shine off himself with his performances in game 5 and 7.
