How does this make sense? It's likely the system because when other teams dump and chase they always finish their checks on the defenders retrieving the pucks? I get that it's your thing since Dubas and Keefe were canned to just trash Tre and Berube in every thread whether it's a passive aggressive comment or just very blatant and then act like you weren't, but this is reaching a little too much.

It's ridiculous. How can this guy have this much adoration for Dubas and Keefe to the point of denigrating anything the team has done since they were canned? It's love of people over love of team.

It's generally agreed that this team didn't advance because of the utter lack of compete from the core 4 in critical games. It was Dubas who created the entitled attitude by handing out those ridiculous contracts and surrounding them with me-first veterans like Marleau and Thornton.

It's not just losing to Florida, former Cup champs, it's how we lost to them. We were up 2-0 and in the middle of the third game we stopped competing. Then, Games 5 and 7 at home, they were beaten both games 6-1, historically pathetic result from a home team. The lack of compete and effort were puzzling to the coach and the fans.

At some point, Sebastian Cossa is going to be let go despite Detroit trading up to get him and not Wallstedt. Looks like a six of one type scenario anyway, but the point is, there's the appearance of excellence and then there's the execution of it.

Our club is so schizophrenic in effort that after nearly a decade of breathtaking, negative record-making, raised expectation destroying post-season performances, the only sensible differentiation we haven't tried, is allowing at least one, possibly two, hopefully three pieces of our five-man core to be removed.

Keep in mind, this is against eventual Cup winners in Tampa, Boston, Washington and Florida. But it's also wildcard teams like Columbus and Montreal. It's not the team in front of them that's beating them, so much as it's a noticeable, unavoidable pattern of our team self-destructing over and over and over times three.

On principal, one of our Core Five decided not to negotiate during the season, rejected an offer that would have made him the highest paid player on the team with Auston Matthews in tow, and to that end, we can't substitute team goals for one or two players' ulterior goals.

It might be the best team we've had in 20 years, but the team from 20 years ago would sweep this iteration 10/10 times and our present captain would thank our former for doing so.

No we’re not. We’ve lost 7 straight games 7’s. Leafs fans don’t give a crap about the regular season they want playoff success and this core has proven to be one of the worst playoffs teams in sports. It needs changed.

Almost doesn't count. Leafs really weren't even close in game 5 or game 7. They should have gotten over that hump already. This is not a young team, in fact this an old team. Leafs tried to add pieces around the core every single season, it's clear it's the core that doesn't work together.

Like Matthews said last night only one team is happy at the end of the year. Winning game 6 on the road facing elimination was crazy growth. Did you hear what Marchand said after the game? Like it's f***ing hard as hell to win the cup...

The vast majority of athletes worldwide strive to win on the biggest stages and embrace the pressure that comes with being a member of a massive franchise. Only in hockey do the players go out of their way to be as anonymous as possible and loathe being perceived.

did he? I was and am a huge Sundin fan but his career playoff PPG leaves things to be desired. hell he was injured and the leafs rallied and then he came back and all of a sudden they stood around picking their asses and looking to him to do it all again

Stolarz leaving and Woll letting in Game 3's goal after we wasted a 5 minute PP was the collective existential recipe for disbeleaf amongst our gentle leadership.

Nothing really surprised after that.

The Wings use to choke every year until we finally won in 97. Washington always choked and they broke through once. If you guys completely tear it down you will wish you didn't. Wings were winning president cups and losing in the first round in the 90's. Choking to new jersey. Then we finally won. I see it from a different angle. So many studs on this roster you have to get lucky too....
