Post-Game Talk: End of the Shanascam? | Leafs Blown Out at Home Again

Fav part of last night: I watched from one of the gondola boxes in the arena last night - they stop serving food & drink with 10 minutes left in the third.

Our suite's bartender came by and sat by us for the final moments of the third, and was so irritated that he knocked a bunch of popcorn into the corner. He then told us "we" (MLSE) should be refunding everyone in the house tonight.

I know he's just a bartender, but even the team's f***ing staff are over these bunch of losers.

The Leafs are a hell of a basket to have put all your eggs in!
Very true.

I once met Rod Stewart at a hockey rink. His son plays the game and represented Great Britain internationally. I’ve had a song of his in my head all day.

I don’t wanna talk about it. How you broke my heart.

Thank god some of my friends are Ajax supporters ☺️

We also have to remember Matthews has three years left on his deal. I’m not sure he is going to want to stay here. Honestly. Would you?

With his BFF leaving, I could see AM34 wanting to go to a don’t-give-a-shit-about-hockey state, enjoying sunshine, getting rich and paying less taxes.

This era has been a f***ing Greek tragedy.

Agreed! They've been coddled to no end. I knew it was all over the day Keefe had to walk back his comments in the media and he had said nothing too controversial.

Saw this on twitter and was at a loss for words AGAIN where these players do not take any accountability

Hell even McDavid was pissed last year

At least Tavares seems to not be learning lessons anymore and is taking some accountability

dude , mcdavid was pissed off after the oilers finished off vegas this year. heart of a champ. our players dont have any heart at all.

See if we can convince LA or Anaheim to hitch their wagon to Pornstache McPurseBoy.

He might be even more responsible for this nonsense than Marner is because of the captaincy and the difference in expectations.

McDavid had more hunger and class at 15 than Austonflation will ever have. Playing hockey for more money than anyone on the planet is a chore for Austonflation.

McDavid has the heart of a lion. After losing the first 3 last year, he willed his teammates back into that series. A lucky bounce Edmonton would have won the cup.

Oilers don't have the natural talent Leafs have. Imagine McDavid and not Matthews playing on the Leafs this series. I'm not saying we would have won (though I think we would have) but the effort would have been 100% better.

Let’s blame the fans for ‘pressure’. Hockey players that say and think that are just weak.
Honestly, hockey is a tough sports but a lot of the players(esp top ones) are mentally hobbit.

We all laughed at Euro Football players for being weak, diving….but I had never heard any of them even hint at not wanting to play for a big club like Barca, Real, Arsenal, ManU, ManCity, PSG….due to fans pressure or use fans pressure as a reason they didn’t win.
If they didn’t win, they didn’t win and face the potential of being moved in the transfer window.

It is pure crap that hockey players think fan pressure is a reason that stop them from winning.
The fact that it is even being discussed is just stupid and weak. No wonder why Hockey is losing ground as a Top 4 sports in North America.

To the media, MGT, agents and players that keep using fans pressure as a talking point and excuse, keep it up bc less and less people will watch the sports.

If we have McD, Drai, Hyman, Ekholm(let’s say he is not injured) instead of AM, MM, JT and Reilly, we would had beat the Panthers.

So because you don't make a lot of money, you're not expect to to provide anything to your hockey club? Apart from providing any goals, the 3rd and 4th line legit couldn't forecheck or cause momentum swings... How often did we see our D getting punished because we were in our zone with our 3rd line and 4th line?

That's awful logic. Knies making 800k means nothing when you're lriding shotgun with the best players.. What it changes next season when he's making 7m?

Please go out and find me a team that's won a cup or made a deep run with half of their roster scoring 0 goals after 13 games.
Nope, I'm sure the 4th liners look at themselves and wish they could score more. But let's live in reality shall we. Guys like Laughten, Lorentz, Jarnkrok, Holmberg etc. are guys that average what, 1 goal every 10-15 games IN THE REGULAR SEASON, it shouldn't be a shocker at all that when the games get tight and harder to play they won't be scoring much in the post season. The only disappointment was McMann who scored 20 goals but couldn't do a damn thing in the playoffs

Sure it would be nice for more ancillary scoring, but based on the group we shouldn't be expecting much. Great scoring from Max, Patches, and Knies should have been enough. An extra 2 or 3 goals from the scrubs down the lineup wasn't winning us the series. Not when 2 games included 6-1 blowouts.

Please go out and find me a team that has won the cup or has made a deep run with 4 guys taking up over half the cap.

Anyone who watched the playoffs last year knows that McDavid has the dog in him. He'll stop at nothing, literally nothing, to win a Stanley Cup. Drai as well and he's not even from North America. But they both have no tolerance for failure.

They're going to win it soon. If the goaltending holds up it's going to be this year...and they are going to deserve it.

I like Edmonton. I know a lot of fans of Canadian teams can't stand them. I'm not one of them

I'm hoping they go all the way this year and part of it is selfish. I think McDavid might consider coming home if he wins a cup in Edmonton.
That said, I know he's very loyal, so he might not and wouldn't be mad if he stays....but hope he does consider it.

Agree. To me, this Panthers series, we got two great game from Woll, where we should had won both instead of only one if the boys actually can create offence in Game 4.
Willie won us a game in Game 1 and JT almost got us one in Game 3.
If only AM and MM can dominate just ONE game and we would had won the series before Game 7.

Rielly has 6 years left with a NMC a house on the bridal path and a famous canadian wife

He's not going anywhere

Meh.

As has been proven many times over in this league, if a team wants to move on from a player with a NMC, they will. Countless times we hear how a contract is immovable, yet they prove to not be.

Like, if for instance Vancouver or Seattle agreed to a trade, you don't think he'd agree, considering where he is from?

given the hughes scenario with the nucks, tre gotta jump on it and try to move rielly to vancouver even if we have to eat million dollars in retention

He tried to trade him, and decided to go the extension route when they didnt like the offers made to them.

I'm not sure why we are trying to overcomplicate this
how does it make any sense to decide to trade a player (team doesn't want player), can't trade him so you sign the player your trying to trade............
