Post-Game Talk: End of the Shanascam? | Leafs Blown Out at Home Again

Skip Bayless, lol.

He was canned because he tried to take Shanahan's job after agreeing to terms and having Pittsburgh's offer in his back pocket.

Benoit has heart but he's a 3rd pair D. No one build around that.

That team just couldn't score. Add two 40 goal scorers and they might have made a conference final.
i loved watching that team play.

Look, I know this is hearsay/rumors and it very well may get deleted. I wasn't even going to share it (I've been sitting on this for over 48 hours) but since the passengers comment I feel it merits being aired in here. My cousin has an uncle, unrelated to me, who went to game 6 in Florida, and ended up in the same hotel as them. Spent a lot of time bumping shoulders with them. Here's what he said...

Stayed at the same hotel. Said the team seems like they hate matthews and marner. The entire team stayed away from them. When he talked to matthews, he said he has the hugest ego. Said rielly was respectful and professional. But matthews spent the entire time on the beach yesterday. And the team avoided him like the plague. While talking to some guys he got the vibe they just can't stand him. Like when he spoke guys rolled their eyes and shit.

It would be nice to see more Canadian teams do well, but right now it seems like its only the Oilers who look like the strongest Canadian team in the playoffs. Leafs and Jets look good in the regular season, but come playoff time they both seem to come up short and disappoint for whatever reason. Ottawa and Habs both decent this year, but not sure if they'll improve or not next year. Flames maybe can improve enough to get into the playoffs, Nucks probably looking the worst right now.

Even though I should be hating the Habs and Sens because of rivalries, I still find myself cheering for them and the other Canadian teams as long as they're not facing the Leafs.
I think Canucks and flames probably need a proper rebuild,I used to hate the Habs in the 60's and hear Danny galivan whine if hitting got carried away but I can see them getting better if they get some much needed size, ottawa like toronto ended their rebuild to soon,Edmonton has the best player in the world and jets are like the Leafs regular season team.

Super disappointing ending to the season. It was boys against men out there tonight for game 7. One team played with desperation and wanted it more. Maybe a goal from Lorentz or Laughton in the first would have changed the game, but the lack of general pushback from the team is something else.

Yeah, for me, that was the opportunity missed. I don't buy into the "they were all lazy" narrative. I think they needed something that would give them a boost and possibly make Florida change the way they were playing. I've always been a proponent of thinking that squandering an early opportunity will generally result in fatal results.

Whether fan fiction or not, I always got the sense that one (or maybe both) of these guys was a locker room cancer. No fuccks given in the playoffs and took the team to the cleaners during contract negotiations. Even Nylander was better during contract negotiations. These guys want to keep resetting the market embarrass the logo come playoff time. If we hadn’t traded our 1st the next two years I’d be up for a scorched rebuild or even an aggressive retool

I like jack nesbitt when he played against walton he is one solid dude with an attitude, ideally I see hi. More for a team with 2 firsts because I'm not sure if he's lowery or the utah guy whos name escapes me which is still good,or does he have more play making in his game to be a 2nd line center

I mean didn’t Marner prove he could be clutch in 4 nations? Maybe this just comes down to overall chemistry of the team. I would love for the Canucks to sign Mitch long term

Playoff hockey is way different than international play. He can't fight through the contact.

If we move from any or all of the core 4 I will really lose my shit if anyone tries to play the "leafs fans quit on player xyz" or "didn't treat them well". 9 years to get it done. And by get it done, I don't even mean win the cup (which is the actual goal here) but just show up and win a game 7 and improve each year.

Who else gets 9 years of chances in their job? Anyone?

Easily believable. Now that he knows Marner is gone, I'm sure he would entertain a trade somewhere on his terms which would allow the leafs to get some nice young talent to build around.

There is literally no chance this is true.

The organization wouldn't have given him the captaincy if it was.

In fact there would have been an uprising in the room, and JT wouldn't want to be back like he does.

This is the dumbest thing I've read on HFBoards.

Embarrassed to be a leaf fan with how the fanbase is reacting. Booing the team, throwing jerseys on the ice... grow up.
How else do fans show they aren't happy with the product they have to watch? They keep raising ticket prices and everything else and fans just have to sit back and be ok with that? Last time fans did it they made real changes and finally decided to go full on rebuild. Now they just have to re tool.

This entire organization has been a bunch of losers for a decade.

Rielly? Loser.
Keef? Loser.
Shanahan? Loser.
Nylander? Loser.
Thorton? Loser.
Marleau? Loser.
Tavares? Loser.
Marner? Loser.
Matthews? Loser.

The stench of losing goes deep, I hate all of these losers and more, but these are the most obvious, disgusting, losers.

Failing to deal him after the 2021 collapse was this organization's biggest failure.

Not dealing him before the NMC kicked in was their second.

It will cost Shanahan his job - yet itll overshadow completely overshadow how utterly inept Treliving has been at his job since he joined.
Nothing will cost Shanahan his job. They will spin this season as "successful growth"

He was relegated to the third line because for some reason couldn't find chemistry with McDavid. Then he made a pass. Thats it.
