Post-Game Talk: End of the Shanascam? | Leafs Blown Out at Home Again

They oversee a lot of decisions, Shanahan while he didn’t produce a good on ice product, did oversee a lot of good initiatives that made the organization better. One of his first goals as president was to reconnect the fan base and the alumni. That relationship had been damaged for years, I think he’s succeeded with that.

The presidents role is to be a bridge between the hockey operations and the board. So yes on ice product is one part of it, but the leafs also have relationships with a lot of stakeholders in the city. So it’s the presidents job to handle those relationships.
In short, Masai can do that job too.

It's an odd sentiment...so if Quinn goes to NJ, the brothers are running the team? Is one the players equivalent to LeBron James?
Quinn and the other two Hughes are coming here to live out their childhood dream of playing for the Leafs while MLSE hires their Dad as Asst GM for scouting and development, lol

We probably aren’t finding success with any combo of the big 3

they aren’t leaders, and they make leadership money. They aren’t Mcdavid, draisaitl, Mackinnon, rantanen

They are the 3-5th most important players on a cup team
Brett Hull and Phil Kessel came to mind. They won multiple cups with other teams once they became secondary pieces on those deep teams.

Not really. Masai isn’t a hockey guy. I think it’s important to have a president. You want a top guy that the GM is accountable to that’s a hockey guy. The president is there to ensure the rest of the organization is aligned and sets the vision. Let’s not try and diminish the role. Shanahan will be out, someone new will be in.

Treliving will take that role, MLSE wants to save money. They don't even fire pathetic failures like Dubas and Shanahan, they just let their contracts expire.

Whether you like marner or not losing him for next to nothing is a disaster of asset management. He's a top 5 winger in the league and he will be dealt when every gm knows the leafs are over a barrel.

Yup as much as he is a playoffs flop you just can't lose that for nothing, and it's going to be a big regular season loss.

Some of you weren't here when we made the playoffs once in ten years and it shows.

Yeah

Back then we were all hopeful. You squeak in, you never know what could happen!

Well now we know what happens. Every time. Setting records in playoff futility.

Another era wasted.
