FYI - TSN no longer seem to be streaming it, and the Sportsnet feed is very choppy; will attempt to provide notes for all players remaining when I get access a moment.
Despite it being an absolute slide show of an experience so far, what little we could see of Marner's avail makes it crystal clear that it's he who is done with the Leafs.
he's gone. as I said all year, he decided mentally that he was done with this team / town / market a while ago.
Not almostIt’s almost intentional like they buried their shame in technical difficulties. The team is owned by a telecom…
The way he's turned the fans, media, marketplace etc into some sort of adversary, but still hasn't used it as any sort of fuel to light any sort of fire underneath him, is such a..... weak minded approach. It will be healthy to turn the page from such a resentful player.

Can't disagree with any of it. But it really didn't have to be this way - too bad the whole situation was poorly managed on Marner's side and he couldn't go the extra mile. The way he's turned the fans, media, marketplace etc into some sort of adversary, but still hasn't used it as any sort of fuel to light any sort of fire underneath him, is such a..... weak minded approach.
I read it more as he was done with the fans, the media, the franchise, but didn't want to bail on his team. I get that...but shit, if he REALLY wanted to do everyone a solid without being resentful about it, he'd be playing the Leafs tonight with Rantanen on Matthews' flank. You’d think a ten million dollar plus player who was sick of their hometown might go to management and make a decisive call to go to another market, make it happen and move on with their career with purpose. Nope. Going to resentfully finish collecting my paycheque, be the belle of the ball for once and stick it to the ex. Feels teen drama-y, but that’s how I feel about the player.
Now that it's come out that Marner declined multiple contract extension offers from Treliving and had no intention of re-signing here, it's difficult to not resent him as a fan for refusing to waive his no trade clause at the trade deadline. We could have had Rantanen signed to an 8 year extension for a 12 million AAV but Marner was too selfish to let that happen and now we'll have nothing to show for it after he walks. It will be healthy to turn the page from such a resentful player.
he got crosschecked in the back side rib in game 1 of the reg season and didn't look the same since. So just wear and tear like everyone else? I’m tired of the injury excuse for this guy.
I feel like he doesn’t want to do surgery. That’s why he went to Germany to get a second opinion.I’m skeptical here. May-September is 4 months from now. You have rest, recovery and training that will take you back to 100%… but you couldn’t have rest and recovered January-April to be 100% for the playoffs?
We shall see.
What's he gonna say? He doesn't want them back?Sounds like Berube wants Mitch and John back.

If and when Marner leaves (most likely this summer), I don't see him ever being given a hero's welcome anywhere in Toronto EVER again. That really sucks because it's his hometown. Had he just accepted the damn trade, even if he and the Hurricanes knocked off the Leafs in the ECF, I'm pretty sure fans and everyone would let bygones be bygones within a season or two.
