End of Season Media Availability - Management ( 10 PST)

He’s getting traded this off-season 100%

I'd be inclined to agree that the Canucks may decide to move on if this stalemate continues to drag out.

Canucks probably feel a bit emboldened by the progression of D-Petey and Mancini. Willander may be looking at the Canucks' d-corps and wondering where he fits. (if he was smart, he'd realize he'd fit in immediately).

Rutherford said it again that free agency isn't going to cut it for a top 2 center, it has to be a trade and then stopped himself from going further.

Willander is definitely be dangled for that piece.

I am thoroughly impressed with this press conference and that’s because Rutherford was there, I’m really happy he was there, I’m satisfied ready to move on

“ it will be expensive and we will do whatever it takes to get a centre”

When I asked about trading top prospects and a first.

As expected

I said this before, I’ll save say it again, I f***ing love this honesty

willander wanted to turn pro last offseason and the canucks showed only mild interest in signing him for whatever reason. i don't believe at all that willander wants to return for his junior year. this is all about the contract

Jeeeeeeez, Jim, that sounds awfully close to tampering.

EDIT: Clarifying - question was about Quinn Hughes being a UFA soon. Rutherford, paraphrasing said "we can prepare for the cap space, that's in our control, but he's said that he wants to play with his brothers. That's out of our control, unless we bring his brothers here. Then it's in our control".

Rutherford just said Hughes wants to play with his brothers so either he goes and plays with them or they bring his brothers here. NJ has the upperhand in this situation though.

Allvin is not good at speaking eh

Seriously. I remember a few summers back he was being grilled about whether or not the Canucks could improve due to limited cap space and he dropped a "well, the Tampa Bay Lightning are tight to the cap every year". Moronic, Jim Benning-level quote (to be clear - Allvin is a much sharper guy than Benning).
