Lilleberg suspended 2 games.

-Late illegal hit on a player without the puck, head main point of contact
-Was suspended one game in the World Championships after a check to the head
-Two players are out with a concussion after his actions

Will he change his game? Doubt that. Try to keep it clean though.

There must be a fiery short fuse beneath that choirboy exterior. But there's no need to prove anything. He's shown he can handle the tough side of the NHL. Just settle down and keep it under control.

Seems just, the hit was unnecessary.
He said Cooper asked him to play a physical game, that's what they want from him. Those hits and fights create energy on the bench, he just needs to make some adjustments to make sure he follows the rules.

I believe this enforcer role actually works. Team won't get pushed around a lot, and key players will more or less be left alone if you have a "policeman" in the lineup who's being respected by those tough guys.

I do appreciate the physical part of the game; he needs to improve his timing and reading of the play/when to hit.
I hope he continues to hit and that the team gets someone who can drop the gloves on regular basis and with some success. It’s commendable that Lil obliges when opponents invite him to fight, but he is not someone that’s going to intimidate anyone via fighting.

Definitely late, 2 games is a bit harsh imo but I get it. Hopefully it doesn't deter him from stepping up on guys in the future.

There was some other questionable stuff he got away with, including a bad crosscheck before that Kastelic fight 3 weeks ago, I believe the DoPS wanted to send him a message.

His physical game is his identity, I'm not sure he'll have success in the NHL without it. You can say he shows some dedication when he even trains boxing with a personal instructor. Says it's because he wants to learn self defense and improve his upper body strength.

Lilleberg doesn't give a lot of interviews in English. There's a little story behind it, the funny live interview during his NHL debut game, got some pepper from friends after that one. He knows his English sucks and now he's taking lessons.

That interview is a gem! Makes me think of that time when Johnston was running his mouth at Lilliberg for about a minute straight (after the Brett Leason hit). Lil probably just stared at him not understanding a single word.

Yes, late hit.
I agree that EL needs to work better on his timing and decision making on when to pick his spots...if he is smart, I think he is, that will come over time and with some good coaching.

What I DON'T want, is EL to change his game. He is a physical defenseman who seems to fear no one, and doesn't care whether your name is Vatrano or McDavid....he is gonna hit. And I think that is good. That is his game, it is who he is.
He can't go around playing 'scared' of the league.

Smarten up a bit, continue to play in a way that makes opposing players extremely uncomfortable.
When a player of his ilk starts to play tentative, he loses effectiveness and will soon find himself as the '25th man' or expendable part on any competitive team.

You got got a-holes like Zadorov in Boston who play every bit as aggressive and continue to do so and they stay relevant.
EL is far more talented than a Cro Magnon like Zadorov, and he has the same aggressiveness.

Hope that doesn't change.
