He's definitely an interesting player.

He doesn't have "classic offensive" skillset: smooth hands, great lateral skating, the ability to slow down the play.

But he's an ox, fast as lightning and a wicked shot. Seems to have a decent understanding of the game. We've seen players like our very own Gallagher have a successful top 6 career by being able to grind out players and force their ways into scoring positions. Would be pretty awesome to see Heineman emerge as a suprise top 6 winger.

He reminds me of a young Barbashev, strong as an ox, excellent skating, hits like a train and has surprisingly good hands and a lethal shot. He is a legitimate piece of this rebuild going forward.

Yeah that's why I made the loose comparison to Cole...

Sometimes I wish Heineman slowed down a bit, but I think he's got the makings of being a solid 3rd line winger.

I said over a year ago, stylistically, Patches pre-Chara incident. I don’t know if he quite has Cole’s skill set but we’re definitely triangulating his style for sure

He's a beast and we're now seeing the skill and potential that our management team saw in him. I like him more than Dach and Newhook right now.

I’d like to see him improve on his defensive play. Maybe become part of a good energy line or penalty killer. A guy that you can put out to protect a lead or forecheck hard. I’m sure management sees him as part of a 3rd or 4th line down the road.

I think his floor is 3rd line. Too skilled to end up as a 4th liner. He will only get better.

Yep I was about to edit my post Patches with not quite the offensive upside but more physicality.

The way he drives the net along with his skating and shot are very reminiscent of early Patches. Would love if he became a Franzen for us.

Not too many players can score the kind of goals he scores. If we can find him the right long term 3rd or 4th line linemates, I'll be happy.

Few concussions there. Last year it seemed like he was too reckless for his own good potentially. IQ concerns (though it’s such a nebulous term no one really knows what it means

People keep talking about how nice of a surprise it would be if he’s a top 6 winger but him becoming an elite third liner that hits, forechecks, defends well and chips in some big goals would be huge for us too, can see him and Beck winning us games in the playoffs a few years from now.

Love this player and his play is a nice bright spot on a disappointing season

I think he's starting to look quite projectable as a bottom six player over the long term, more likely as a strong 4th liner.

He hits hard and often, and can be tenacious on the forecheck with his speed. He has a weapon in his shot, which he can use to hurt teams on the scoreboard if they aren't careful. He looks like he can be part of the solution going forward. He plays the type of game you need in the playoffs.

That is a very good point. I'd prefer having him play higher up to help give us some balance we seem to be lacking.
He's not the mean SOB who can also play hockey I think we do need but he does possess a hard to play against game.
Definitely not just another "Beige" player Martin Lemay likes to refer to.
Early this season I described him as a Ylonen with actual events happening at the end of his bursts of speed.

What I like his that his N-S separation speed has started to keep defenders on their toes. So while he can't make space on the ice with silky hands or fancy skating, defenders trying to create a buffer to not get burned with his speed is giving him some room out there to use his shot or cut in.

Best thing about him is he is playing like that and staying healthy. I almost gave up on this guy because he was hardly ever healthy in the AHL. Super glad he figured it out physically. Hope I am not jinxing it.
