Player Discussion Emil Heineman Part 2 Get Well Soon Edition

He just needs to stop taking whiffs of ammonia salt, and perhaps he'll whiff less on his shots. He doesn't need that shit at all, au contraire....

Btw, I think it's really stupid thaf trainers are letting players constantly sniff those things before every period. They have no lasting beneficial effect and they probably have long-term detrimental effects on your brain, though it hasn't been studied or documented.

If you don't have evidence that there is any harm then why even discuss it???

He clearly is not 100% and/or has not regained the confidence that he built early in the season prior to the injury. This is exactly what happens to most young players at some point in time.

Nothing to see here imo.

So you SUSPECT he's heavier, therefore he IS heavier, therefore he IS a big boy and SHOULD play like a big boy, therefore he IS a disappointment.

Got it.

He is taller than average and at the very least he is average weight but as we all should know by now, weight can significantly change unlike height at his age.

Why are you so invested in arguing that he is an average sized forward when he factually is bigger than that.???? How do you even remotely get worked up over such a reasonable response?

You argue with me over his size when I quoted his official numbers. I'm the one getting worked up?

Lol.

The comment about Newhook is half-serious, tongue-in-cheek.

Heineman will be a very solid NHL player, for sure. 173 hits in his rookie year, that's impressive. This guy have lethal shot aswell. I really like him!!
If he continues to display Lehkonen's work ethic, he has a chance to be slightly better than Artturi. For sure, one step faster and better shot. It will come down to IQ and knowing where to be on the ice at all times. Lehkonen is exceptional that way but it took him till age 26 to really master his craft.

Could he be a top 6 surprise in the near future?

Heineman pre car incident and post car incident was two totally different beings.

Hopefully it's nothing more than the rookie wall that most rookies suffer through. The pre car incident Heineman was a moose on skates that looked like he could be put on any line and succeed, even though he stuck with armia and Evans because that line was going so well at the time.

Nah.

He has a good shot but it feels his IQ is maybe not high enough to know how to use it most of the time. He’s great as a bottom 9 player, though.
Even with a smaller IQ, couldn't he be the piece to retrieve the puck on the board to feed Demidov?

His french is so much better than I expected. Didn't even think he'd be trying tbh. Already better than Gorton.
He seems like a smart dude. I always like his answers during interviews, he's a bit more candid than the other guys, but in a good way.

Difficult to know how hungry he is to be better and better as he heads in the heat of his prime. Most like this type fade but some don’t.

I personally think he falls in the middle 6 mix. The top 6 vs bottom 6 narrative is old. Teams that win build 3 solid lines and there are a ton of middle 6 types in the NHL today. Newhook and Anderson are two of them
