Avs need to have extra motivation and determination this year in the playoffs to make a deep run because they probably have to start every series in west on the road to get to the finals unless there are upsets, but the likely scenario if we actually gonna make it to the finals, we have to go through Dallas, Jets and Vegas, all will have home ice.

I mean how many teams have actually done that, where they made the finals starting every series on the road? I believe the Blues did it in 2019, and maybe the Kings in one of their cup runs? It’s gonna be super hard. The boys better be ready
It ain't happening..... Goal are harder to come by in the playoffs. Physical play picks up. More aggressive stick work & obstruction predominates. Goalies have horseshoes inserted in their buttocks.

Hell, they can't score goals now.

Toews-Makar with no f***s given defensively again 🤣

They've also been coasting for the last 10-12 games knowing that they were pretty much locked in to facing Dallas, plus sitting guys for any little bump and bruise except for Mack and he's even likely sitting out the final 3. The Avs also be ramping up the intensity for the playoffs, and have a shot for their goalie to get lucky. It's not like what we're seeing now is the same way they're going to play in the playoffs. Not sure why the goals would be harder to come by in the playoffs for the Avs than it would any other team.

It can happen, if they really want it badly. Need that determination

They will surely be buzzing once the playoffs start. It just might not be enough though, Dallas is no pushover.

Too bad there is no weaker 1st round opponent this time around. They would steamroll over that team.

I'm willing to allow the playoffs to play out before I call any of the new guys busts, but I certainly understand your concern. Nelson in particular is a bit a worrying at times.

I am a bit concerned with Nelson, but with Necas I haven't had an issue with him outside of the last 2 weeks where the whole team outside of Nuke, Coyle, LOC, Malinski, and Wood has been kind of in "get to the playoffs" mode.

Dallas is coasting on their own.... Blowing a 5-2 lead in the final minutes and getting smoked by the Jets with 1st in central on the line is no joke....

The AVS are coasting hard at will, Dallas seems to have some real problems on their hand heading into the playoffs. :D

Yes, Dallas is no pushover and they will up their game in the playoffs, no doubt, but this year the AVS are not one either. Expect Nuke to stay in line and expect the AVS to come in as healthy as possible. I take the AVS over Dallas this time.

Who do you think is the bigger X-Factor: Seguin, Heiskanen, or Landeskog.

I think no matter what happens, the Avs get the bigger emotional boost from returning player(s). I kinda hope the locker room is talking about this, because I'm not sure how I could contain my emotions in whichever game that occurs in. They need to be making sure they funnel that energy and take advantage of it.

Yeah this game was unwatchable. They definately just passing time..

Also the the lines will be so different on game1 since so many guys are sitting out until the meaningful games start.

My pick for X-Factor is Druin. The lineup has 0 right side shooters on PP, none since Nelson doesnt do it.

We need Druin big time so make sure you buy enough duct tape and bandages...

Ugh, I've been fine with these losses knowing they're waiting for the playoffs, but that one was a bit annoying for some reason. Maybe because it was the last home game of the regular season.

Another atrocious game from the refs, but also another game of the Avs not being able to hit the net except into the goalies chest, and another game of Malinski getting hit behind the net for a turnover, and his game falling apart after. Played that first goal extremely soft defensively. Really hope he can up his ability to handle the physicality in the playoffs, because they're gonna target him.

Great game by Sherwood, but didn't really like that Duchene style celly in a nothing game, when he's about to go golfing, and the Avs are a contender.

Hope LOC is ok. He took a couple hard shots in that fight, but his heart helped him give a couple back to the much bigger Petterson.

This regular season can't end soon enough.

On the positive side, congrats to the season ticket holders that have sat behind the Avs bench for years, Eric and Teresa (spelling?) having a baby boy. That was a cool moment during the intermission. Wish them and their family a great future.

Haven't gone back and checked but it feels like we've lost quite a few of the last home games of the season over the years.

If my second wind kicks in, I might just look it up in a bit.

[edit... Google's AI Overview tells me their current record is 2-1-1. I guess google only recognizes the Avalanche as an NHL team for the last five years. But this is what they said:
  • 2017-18: Loss
  • 2018-19: Loss
  • 2019-20: Win
  • 2020-21: Win
  • 2021-22: Loss
  • 2022-23: Win
  • 2023-24: Loss]

Did any of the injured guys come out for the ceremony? From what little they showed of it you could see a poor girl with a Colton sign looking sad and I don't think any of them ever came out. It was also hard to tell because they were hardly showing any of it on TV, that was pretty terrible.

Can't really blame them at this point, nobody in the Avs organization has given a shit other than Coyle for going on two weeks now... why would anyone start to care now? This isn't the playoffs.

Lehkonen. Dude was lit all season. This last month or so? Cold as a Foreigner track.
He's due to catch his cliche clutch.

Edit: reading that back I need to specify:
Cliché. Not Marc-Andre.

This is 100% true. I was only referring to the guys who are injured since Landy was only listed from Avs besides Heiskanen and Seguin on the post.
