Post-Game Talk: Eliminated

Listen, I can give you a dozen failed rebuild examples. Ripping it down to the studs seldomly works.

I don’t need an excuse to see failed history.
i don’t see any reason to rip it all down when you have a top 5ish forward, top 3 D and great goalie. The people running this league are so dumb and there’s so much value to be had all over the place. They’re a few smart moves away from being back in a playoff spot. Problem is with Drury around it’s just going to get worse

Agree. The only question is his health and how that might affect either a buyout or trade.

The back injury is a sham. He's played almost the whole year. He's played in the four nations. They just shut down Schneider for some injury after getting eliminated. They have not shut down Kreider. Not saying it's nothing but clearly it's not some majorly debilitating issue.

Why not give Brian Leetch the job? What's Mike Richter up to? Jean Ratelle is only 84.

Ok I'm being a bit silly. What about Henrik Lundquist? He's gonna live awhile.

We never talk about any of those guys. Do we hate them or is it because they have absolutely no experience?

Nobody hates Messier. He's simply unqualified to run the team.

I wouldn't hate trying Hank as a goalie coach, to be honest. There may not be another human being who has spent more time working with and around Benny, and he definitely likes nerding out on goalie technique when he's working as an analyst.

That said, I don't think he would want to do it anyway, so probably moot.

"loser Mika, Kreider and Panarin", what has JT Miller ever won? dont get your hopes up. trading for a 32 year old player "not for this season" is a new one.
Maybe I missed it, but wasn't the objective to get YOUNGER and FASTER? I don't care how many points JT (or even Panny) scores -- it won't make up for the fact that they can't keep up with the rest of the league.

How are any of these guys losers? It’s honestly sad af that Mika who was a great Ranger is gonna be remembered negatively just because the team was too dumb to recognize he was insanely overrated. Kreider a loser now too i guess because this lame ass team basically depends on his 34 year old injured sacrum to hold up so they can ever score a goal

people are just ungrateful and don't understand how players can decline with age. same people are expecting JTM to put up 90 points for the next few years.

You lost me with "loose". You did mean "lose", right? Sorry, sick and in a pissy mood. Not because we lost and officially out (not unexpectedly), but because my Mets lost as well.
English is not my native language so lose might become loose when I try to express myself in english :)

Why do people continously bring this shit up like it's the only rebuild metric in all of hockey to go by?

Or is it just the one you use when you need an excuse?
Because Buffalo is a prominent example of a franchise that has "rebuilt" like 3 times and has still failed.

The devils are an example of a rebuild that took three attempts before it "worked", which has yielded a total of 6 playoff wins in 12 years.

The Blackhawks started their rebuild in 2019-20. Since drafting Bedard in 2023 they still have not reached 30 wins since staring that rebuild.

There are more examples than just buffalo. You don't have to look too hard to find them.
