Post-Game Talk: Eliminated

That's a myth. This year PROVES that goaltending can't do it for you if the forwards don't do their job. Igor looked bad a lot this year but it was mainly because the D shit the bed, so did the forwards not helping out the D too.
No one can do it alone, this is truly a team game, but Igor last year absolutely pulled them through that. It's not a myth, they were getting owned and actually had a chance against the cats bc Igor was unreal. And as per the norm, the crap on the goalie thing keeps going bc of what he's GOING to get paid next season meanwhile the winger that IS getting paid right now is treated differently.

The GM is equally responsible for that if not more. He's the president of the team.
I keep hearing about how Drury wants to show the players he’s the boss.

Like yeah Chris, you’re reallyyyy sticking it to them as your coach continues to play and give big minutes to your alleged malcontent players in lieu of your future core pieces.

Great GMing there

I would 100% blow it all to hell just to start from scratch with a GM that has some goddamn sense.

I don't care if we sucked for a bit either. I mean, what's the difference from being a losing rebuild team that doesn't make the playoffs to being a losing team that still doesn't make the playoffs.

OR...

A team that makes the playoffs off of the back of their goalie that's being as overused as Hank was with pylons in front of him and knowing you'll never win a cup with the run it back core anyway.

I know the poison I'd choose.
You might want to check with some fans from Buffalo. They’ve blown it up 3-4 times and haven’t made the playoffs in 14 years.

I’m not interested in any long rebuilds. There’s way too much talent here. It needs to return to form or be monetized.

The least amount of hockey I've watched in a season since I became a huge fan in 05'. I usually do whatever I need to to watch at work but the team bored me so much I couldn't even bother. A lost. Useless season.

Kreids has fully come to terms with the fact that the organization and particularly the GM don’t want him here, as was made clear to him months ago. I’d say there a less than 5% chance that he’s on our roster next season if Drury is still running things.
Kreider has long been my favorite Ranger. I am resigned to the fact he won’t be here next year. What I am pointing out is that a)he needs to be physically able to play to be bought out and b) if there is trade interest (likely at 50% retained) he needs to pass a physical from another team. I would expect a modest market for him if he is healthy.

The 11.3 mil winger couldn't do it either, but you seem fine with that. The amount of angst aimed at a goalie that basically dragged this team to the conference finals last year is embarrassing.
He wasn't paid last year. He got the bag this year and his level of play is telling.

Why do people continously bring this shit up like it's the only rebuild metric in all of hockey to go by?

Or is it just the one you use when you need an excuse?

It’s a great point. As I’ve said before, look at the franchises that “rebuild” for 4-6-8-10+ years - and can’t get off the mat.

We need to nip this, right here and right now.

Players didn’t even get mad or frustrated enough to have a scrum or fight anybody for months. An utter disgrace to to the shield and every single one of them should be on the table to be moved this summer. It really doesn’t matter what the perceived skill level of the team is, they need to grow a heart and a real leadership group before we start worrying about where they can win a Cup. Laviolette and Drury both deserve to be fired but there’s not a coach or GM that could’ve gotten this group of cowards to the playoffs

Yup, this should be a chain of command thing. Ideally, the GM and coach are on the same page, and communicate back and forward. But in the end, the GM is the one who makes the calls on the roster.

Whether or not the idea of burning GB:s first ELC year came from Drury or was from GB camp, there is absolutely zero reason not to play him at this point. He should be in the first line and get #1PP opportunities.

lol we traded a 1st for jt miller and missed the playoffs lmao

JT will have a monster season next year where we will either miss again or get bounced in the first round, and he will then proceed to fall into the grand canyon posting 45, 38, and 30 point seasons until we eventually buy him out.

Let's revisit this in 4 years and see how close I was. I am 100% confident this will happen.

An absolutely brain dead trade by this clown GM to try and save a lost season. We literally gave up assets mid-season for a 31 year old player on a team with ZERO IMPACT YOUNG PLAYERS ready to supplement JT's next 1 or 2 elite level years AND a regressing Panarin. Hated the trade when it happened, it's validated by this clusterf*** of an end to the season, and I hate it even more moving forward. This organization will NEVER LEARN

I hope an adult in the room makes the right call & gets Drury to give up this year's pick.
If they lottery into the top 4 than I’m guessing they’d keep the pick. Anything later than that give it to Pitt.
Next year rooster, especially on the blue line is brutal.
This fan base has been loyal without fault despite all the inept management and the mediocrity. But if the Pens were to get 2026 1OA with our pick it would break the franchise.

I know a few ppl here are mocking Messier’s “body language” PowerPoint bullet, but this is kinda what he meant IMO.

Whether it’s fights or scrums or pushing post-whistle, to your point no player seemed to give the extra f**k (except for long lost #55). Which leads us to the faces on the bench late in period #3 today. Basically begging to be made into a meme or seven this off-season.

But they can’t wait for the call on lottery position, no? Dont they have to make that decision 48 hours ahead of the funny ball machine???
