Post-Game Talk: Eliminated

As much as I'm one to pile on Igor, he was hung out to dry so many times today. It was almost as if the game plan was to intentionally leave the slot wide open.

Which is why I'd really like to see K Miller & Schneider get a fair shake from the fan base with a competent system in place with NHL level coaches. If they don't turn it around, send them packing, but it's hard not to be skeptical when every player on D including Fox has regressed massively with Phil Housley telling them what to do.
I hear you but we've been hearing about a competent system since the letter went out and three coaches after that haven't gotten them to play one.

My theory is that they don't have the offensive talent to play a system and score more than once a game. We really hitched our wagon to guys who need to cheat for offense.

I say f*** it. Don't score. Suck if you have to. I want to set a foundation. We'll have to get lucky on the type of talent we need anyway.

This was the most disgraceful, disgusting season in my many years of Ranger fandom, 92-93 is right there but this one wins.
Lavi should have been canned on he spot many time this season but the 4-3 power play should got him fired before the game was over. This is a bunch of quitters with a country club mentality
F Drury, f Lavi and f the core. What kind of example did they set for the young guys. These entitled millionaires need to take a good hard look at themselves. Bench the core, play the kids the next 2 games

100% agree. Do the 05-06 blueprint. Fill up your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines with younger hungry players, a few savvy vets, and reclamation projects. Give yourself a true 1st line with your best 3 players. Get defensemen who are positionally sound in their own zone and can throw the body a bit. Keep the pipeline ready with the next wave of players to fight for a roster spot when injuries occur

I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear some post season surgery news this week (I’m speculating Fox - knee)

Also very interested in Kreider’s post season physical. Is he OK to be traded or bought out?

I would 100% blow it all to hell just to start from scratch with a GM that has some goddamn sense.

I don't care if we sucked for a bit either. I mean, what's the difference from being a losing rebuild team that doesn't make the playoffs to being a losing team that still doesn't make the playoffs.

OR...

A team that makes the playoffs off of the back of their goalie that's being as overused as Hank was with pylons in front of him and knowing you'll never win a cup with the run it back core anyway.

I know the poison I'd choose.

He tied up 18.5 million to two absolute anchors this year, Laf wouldn’t sniff that contract in FA, and neither would Igor. Just moronic stuff from the FO an all year, moving Trouba being the only smart thing they did, but they turned around and killed it.

Now we’re going into 25-26 without a first, the team looking to rebuild, and two pretty atrocious long term contracts. Brutal.

Every team in the league would've signed Lafreniere to that contract if in our situation. The cap is about to skyrocket, he produced at a borderline elite level 5v5 last year, and had a dominant playoffs. I would wager that by the midway point of that contract, it'll be the going rate for a second liner. Hell, Sam Bennett is probably going to make 8+ this offseason, will be turning 29 in June, and has a career high of 50 points, 7 less than Lafreniere put up last year.

I am 100% in favor of every word of this post, but Igor can literally deep throat a light post for all I care. He couldn’t carry Henrik’s jock from his bag to his locker, let alone fill his shoes and the outrageous audacity from him to strong arm our weak GM (I mean good for him and his agent, but I will never root for you or respect you hence forth) into the contract he got will never, ever enable me to look at him as anything other than the biggest offender of the country club bullshit. I’m just going to sit here with my cute hairband and puppy eyes pretending I don’t speak English and NEVER address my performance and make more than any goalie ever. Everyone knew how good Hellebuyck was… did anyone have Winnipeg finishing where they did? Igor cannot find a way to get f***ed enough for me to ever give a shit about him again.

Then I’d move his ass asap if he’s that much of a bargain. He gave us 1 good year, when tied two players that had career years. Started off well, but the drop off was immense. They put way too much weight on 1 year. He had two pedestrian years before that, and now we can add a third pedestrian season. He’s a second liner on a bad team, not a good one. His 5v5 production after his hot start was awful. Personally, I’m moving on, get what you can, maybe someone will overweigh his 1 good year just like we did.

What an incredibly wretched season.

The quality of play was abominable. The Igor and Lafreniere contracts fill me with dread. The JT Miller trade will get me sent to the loony bin. We really added another Zibanejad contract to this godforsaken team just to miss the playoffs lmao.

Amen.

We did really well in that era. The Jagr teams were a lot of fun and all the while, we built something even better. If that team got lucky in the draft once, they would have won the Cup.

Building a good era of Rangers hockey is possible.

I would feel a lot better if Drury didn't low-key kinda go all in for no reason.

The Miller trade made no f***ing sense and he shouldn't have committed to Igor. I don't care if "they were never going to do that." That doesn't make it right.

We haven't even started this rebuild or whatever you want to call it and we've already signed a crippling contract that didn't even kick in yet. What a start.

lol we traded a 1st for jt miller and missed the playoffs lmao
That first will be for next year, probably around 22nd when we make the playoffs with a new core with JT leading it when we get rid of the country club losers this offseason. It was never about this season.

We were never going anywhere with loser Mika, kreider, and Panarin this year when they all got butthurt about Goodrow and Trouba.

Absolute disaster of a season. I've missed the last few and don't care. I got to go to the Masters and it will be one of the best things I've got to go and do.

f*** this team, from Billy Madison, down to Pizza Boy, down to Cheeseburger Boy, and down to the spineless, lifeless, selfish f***s that wear this sweater. Downright disrespectful to us fans to throw this season.

I grew up on the border of NJ in NY. Had to deal with Devils fans growing up while I held onto 1994 like I fell out of the Titanic. This was exactly what the Dark Ages were like for those of you who aren't old enough.

This team has to show me that I should care enough to watch them now. So predictable Gabe and Othmann haven't been playing. This team only cares about pleasing the tourists in the crowd and rookies don't do that. It took me almost 30 years to realize it, but it's the truth. Maybe something changes, but I'm not holding my breath.

Like I said the other day, the game against the Islanders was like giving a fix to a drug addict, temporary feel-good that masks the issues and that's what's been going on around here for quite a while. I'm glad they exposed themselves today with that piss poor effort

I don't think the guys that were brought in before and at the deadline suck to this degree. I think they got dragged down by the laziness of the entitled vets and the confusion of the man on man scheme. I think they will bounce back. I think Igor is not as bad as he has been. I think these guys are just mentally fatigued and done in by this season. Every player regressed. I refuse to believe Schneider is as bad as he's been. Or Borgen doing fly-bys. They got absorbed into the toxic spooge.
