Post-Game Talk: Eliminated

It's absolutely mind boggling how bad Vaakanainen is at hockey and yet PL thinks Jones is a "worse option"
Vaak has 8 perfectly fine games and the 9th shits the bed to an embarrassing degree. He's had I think 5 impossibly awful games out of 45, the rest of which were fine. He's a 6th D.

Zac Clendening has like 3 assists in his last 25 or 30 games. He's an 8th D. You can play him but I'm not sure what the point is.

Glad to see they identified it as an issue and worked hard to fix it....
Today it was made clear he doesn't speak to the players on the bench during games, either. Plus we all know he doesn't go into the locker room after games. Maybe he just was working on perfecting his Jedi mind skills.

This has been a pattern. Not to excuse anyone or to imply there aren't huge issues (this team is still firmly in the bottom half in analytics), but the last 2-3 weeks? ...eh, I've seen them play worse.

Our most expensive goaltending in the league has been f***ing terrible.

In the month of April so far, 12th in xGF and 18th in save percentage. Really resetting the market.

They had visible plus level effort for like 6 minutes of a 60 minute game. That's a loss most of the time. Not sure there's much to think about, they've mostly quit.

As much as I'm one to pile on Igor, he was hung out to dry so many times today. It was almost as if the game plan was to intentionally leave the slot wide open.

Which is why I'd really like to see K Miller & Schneider get a fair shake from the fan base with a competent system in place with NHL level coaches. If they don't turn it around, send them packing, but it's hard not to be skeptical when every player on D including Fox has regressed massively with Phil Housley telling them what to do.

I don't really think he's that bad. Our goalie is awful & the forwards are terrible at D. Not to mention he's playing decent in like the worst system known to man. Perhaps in a more simplistic system with forwards who were defensively responsible and a goalie that's not Swiss cheese he'd look better.

Housely wasnt a defensive dman when he played and a liability. It did not make sense to hire him. They'd be better off with Dan Girardi or Staal with no coaching experience

Yet he gets 20 mins per game of ice time.

Trading for a useless dman in Soucey was way worse when DeHann and Jones are better than hil
Cost practically nothing and can be traded or buried at any time, literal non-issue.

Igor will cripple this team for years. We can only hope they stop playing man on man, upgrade the defense somehow magically and Igor decides to make a f***ing save once and awhile that he shouldn't because that's what the 11.5 million is for!

of all the boneheaded moves Drury has made, re-signing Igor to that contract is by far the most damaging
He tied up 18.5 million to two absolute anchors this year, Laf wouldn’t sniff that contract in FA, and neither would Igor. Just moronic stuff from the FO an all year, moving Trouba being the only smart thing they did, but they turned around and killed it.

Now we’re going into 25-26 without a first, the team looking to rebuild, and two pretty atrocious long term contracts. Brutal.
