Miller played 15 minutes...My question would be why the f*** is he on the ice to start overtime if you see him as 6th most important forward on the night.

I am not a Pettersson fan at all but there is something very wrong with Miller. Tocchet needs to eat this as well. Putting Miller on the ice for the start of OT cost them the game.

This isn't him "silencing" anything. Quite the opposite, actually. If there wasn't an issue or it was being overblown, he would just laugh it off. But, instead, he got noticeably angry and walked off. Couple that with the fact the his current coach, former coach and captain just said there was an issue.

This is just adding fuel to the fire, really.

Good on him for silencing the silly reporter and walking off, hope him and the canucks have a great rest of their season

The first reporter's question was fine, I think. Gave him a chance to clear the air. The second reporter was a bit too much. I would have done exactly what he did.

Strongly disagree. If he'd walked the first question, I'd agree with you unequivocally.

Oh man, maybe he's just pissed over the rumors and losing the game, but that doesn't look like someone silencing the rumors.

If there was truly nothing I would expect him to laugh about it rather than whatever that was

Pettersson acted like he was tied to a chair and being interrogated by the KGB. Dude needs to change his mindset. It's only a few hockey media guys asking questions...it's not that serious. Throw out a few quips and lie your butt off if you want, drop a few "obviously we're frustrated and working hard every shift" takes, and that's it. It's not his first year in the league and he really should know better how to handle the media by this stage.

But this is contrary to numerous comments about the believability of dismissiveness by invoking laughter. He’s supposed to say, “this is all untrue” then laugh. When people see the laughter they know they can believe him and nod before their next google search.

Obviously him losing his cool, swearing, and then storming off means there’s nothing to see here…
It most likely means that he's tired of answering that same question. And even if it's 100% true that there's a problem between those two players on a personal level, do these journalists expect him to say that? How dumb can you get as journalist?

He did laugh it off the first time he got asked that question a year ago.

As I said in an earlier thread - EP has been acting like this (angry teenager/entitled child) in the HA, SHL and the national team, so it’s not weird seeing it in the NHL either. He’s got a very bad temper and psyche, and an irritating, annoying player like Miller sounds like the perfect match for a bad time.

That said, why does Miller get to do this time and time again? He’s not that good, and other teams have gotten rid of him before

Well Tocchet and Hughes acknowledged it and did so in a way that minimized the conflict, framing it as a run of the mill interpersonal issue of the sort that crops up on any team. So I don’t think the journalists were off base in bringing it up.

The 2nd guy did ask a pretty dumb question though.

Not really sure what you mean. I’m saying EP didn’t help his case by acting in that way.

I’m agreeing with you, and adding that even his eye contact doesn’t feel honest.

Some will say that’s reading too much into it, but it’s a whole science and shit- I got called out by an ex for a tell I had when lying, shit has fascinated me since.

Miller and Hughes were the only consistent threats Van had last night.

I don't get the title of this thread. If anything, it's just the opposite. Before the game, the coach and players OUT the 'rift' between the two (So no Petey, the media din't make stuff up). Miller just lets his guy blow past him in OT and then hides from the media. Pettersson throws a tantrum and walks off. Part of the job while making millions is answering a few media questions (I know life is tough for them)... Apparently they can't even get that right. To me, this is not "silence", this is screaming out at the top of your lungs "We have huge problems"
