I've probably been the biggest Pettersson defender on these boards, but if his injury is still having this much of an effect after a year, this player should probably not be coming back next year if it's limiting his effectiveness to this level.

Yea I’ve been fairly critical of his play but still kind of holding out hope that the old Petey comes back at some point

I don’t think it’s injury, I think it’s recovery and lack of training. I think it’s why we have seen improvement, as the season has gone on, and IMO saw a bit of a step back after his actual injury.

Like I said in the game day thread. If Pettersson thinks the pressure is intense now, if we do actually trade Miller, he better be ready. He's in for a very rude awakening if his performance doesn't improve.
Yea, trading Horvat, and likely Miller and Boeser. We really need him to produce like he has the skills to.

Why do you think this is about pressure?

Nhl crowds are mild compared to the crazyness in sweden. And he carried his team to the championship there as a teenager.

At this point, just holding out for 4 Nations. Maybe it'll spark something, like reverse All Star weekend from last year.

This is the old Petey.

Fans are hyper focused on small windows where he plays amazing. The reality is this is who he is 75% of the time.

Pettersson should be thanking his lucky stars that most of the media attention is on Miller right now.

Miller's criticism is well deserved but man has Pettersson been invisible.

3 points in his last 11 games and a -5.
BUT BUT BUT he slid in front of a shot in Toronto

So if he plays at this level offensively 75% of the time... but is a point per game player over 445 games...

So you are saying.... he goes at 3.25 points per game 25% of the time (just did the math). Didn't know he had 111 games where he was better than McDavid + Draisaitl combined. That's definitely worth the money, I'm convinced.

(Obviously kidding you can't find 334 games from Pettersson where he produced at this low a rate, he's obviously in a deep slump that ISNT characteristic of 75% of his career, or he's the greatest player of all time by a margin when not slumping).

Deep slump, it's coming up to a year soon
