Crosby had something like 31 points in 40 games until they hired Mike Sullivan and traded for 2 more defenders. He finished with 85 in 80 because it’s like adding Trevor Daley and Justin Schultz means you have a puck moving D on each pairing so you’re not just relying on Letang minutes to do everything.

The fact is EP40 has to play with elevated D zone starts while sheltering a bunch of 6/7 D’s. The best player in the world couldn’t make that work, yet EP40 can??? They desperately need another top 4 PMD and brannstrom needs to be back on the 3rd pair if you are going to keep him away from Hughes 5 on 5.

I think that was more about MJ being a terrible coach and Crosby dogging it to get him fired than the defense. Schultz only played 18 games that regular season. Crosby and Letang on the ice that year at 5v5 under MJ were at 46.3 xGF% and only 1GF and 12 GA (a 7.7 GF%!!). So he sucked even with a puck mover.

I will stick to Petterson the best I can.

So early on. Jt Miller left the team on Nov 17. 17 games into the season.

during this time Petey gets 11 points. 17 games. this is considered a struggle in my opinion. absolute unacceptable

after JT Leaves the team. Elias Petterson posts 15 points in the proceeding 10 games.

since Millers return, Elias Petterson has posted 0 points in 6 games.

That right… and still out playing him… how sad is that, the guy with zero points is way out playing the guy, who has 2 pts in his last five…
Still out playing . 0 points in 6 games for Pettersson, 4 points in 6 games for Miller.

Those homer glasses are strong on this one

So we’re coming up on almost a year since Petey’s play fell off a cliff after the all star break. The 11 million dollar question is whether or not this is just an extended slump or if this is just the player he is now (either due to injury or whatever).

Hopefully for the Canucks sake its the former because this situation could turn ugly (if it hasn’t already).

Always drama with the Canucks

He literally cost us the last game… you can keep the glasses.
there was plenty of blame to go around in OT. Hughes got sucked way too far into the middle, Lankinen's 5 hole was big enough you could have put a robot vacuum through it and JT over pursued his man which allowed the play to get started. those errors are forced by speed. 2 absolutely elite skaters playing pond hockey drove it down our throat. There's a reason NHL GMs are fixated on speed and it was on full display in that OT.
