Might be a total co-incidence. But Pettersson had his best stretch of the season when Miller was on his leave of absence.

But of course that meant that Pettersson was forced into being 'the franchise guy' in terms of driving offense. The fact is that when Miller went out, Pettersson stepped up in a big time way.

Now he's almost back to what he was at the start of the season. With Pettersson it seems to be 'a confidence thing'. Either he has it, or he doesn't, and it seems to wax and wane.
What’s it called when a meek man sits by and watches another man dominate?

Says more about EP than Miller

No - speculation that the relationship between JT and EP is so bad that it is irreparably fracturing the team.

That Boudreau quote in your post even has him saying that he hopes it was just coincidence - referring to them being split on the PP.

The facts aren't available to be accepted.
What? That quote from him had nothing to do with them being split on the pp .

This thought went through my head the other day, it's like he's the new Huberdeau here.
The difference is Pettersson has shown he can elevate his subpar linemates and still put up 100 points while contributing mostly even strength.

It’s also worth noting he still leads the team in the defensive category among all forwards.

One has 438 points in 439gp in his career. Not many players are career PPG. One also just turned 26. The other turns 32.

Fundamentally, Pettersson and Huberdeau are completely different players.
Fundamentally yes they are different one is tough and strong on their skates and one is soft and weak on their skates.

Crosby had something like 31 points in 40 games until they hired Mike Sullivan and traded for 2 more defenders. He finished with 85 in 80 because it’s like adding Trevor Daley and Justin Schultz means you have a puck moving D on each pairing so you’re not just relying on Letang minutes to do everything.

The fact is EP40 has to play with elevated D zone starts while sheltering a bunch of 6/7 D’s. The best player in the world couldn’t make that work, yet EP40 can??? They desperately need another top 4 PMD and brannstrom needs to be back on the 3rd pair if you are going to keep him away from Hughes 5 on 5.

His individual effort goal ability vanished after the bubble run, when he looked on top of the world.

He's just incapable of beating a goalie clean, let alone a goalie and defender in the same play. He doesn't even attempt those plays anymore.

Nearly all points are on the backs of others, as soon as a winger slumps, his stat line goes to zeroes.

Watching all his goals over the last 4+ seasons, they increasingly go from shots to tips and tap-ins. The exception being his red hot ES season that started when Kuz became his full time winger. Lots of Sedin like plays between them. However on the PP, all the goals went to Kuz, while EP had the fewest primary points of our big guns on the unit, and only 6 goals all season. SH Miller and EP were tops in the league that year with a bunch of 2v1 goals together.

21-22 he had 68p in 82 games. Identical number of points in his last 82 games, but with far fewer goals.

the fact is that he was over PPG when Miller was absent and it is not a coincidence, it's also more than just the QH effect

Hate on EP all you want, Miller will be gone before EP. He has too much of a history of butting heads with teammates

I remember few East Coast media called him a cancer when he was traded here, perhaps last season was the outlier.
