Value of: Elias Pettersson C

Would still take him, give him a shot
I feel like Montréal would be a better environment for him to thrive too
There might be decent supports in place, but the reputation for chewing people up and spitting them out (if they can't handle it) is well known. It would be a significant risk.

I feel like Montréal is a really tough, but fair market

Those who plays their ass off here are rewarded

JT Miller had a full no trade clause

What, he did have a full, no trade clause.

And pettersson does not actually activate until July 1, he can literally be traded anywhere, he’s easily gonna get more than JT Miller. It’s not even debatable.

Especially with how he’s looked recently before his injury since JT left.
Im just bugging ya.

Jason Demers has a podcast where the ad snippet always says “..if you think you can trade just one of these guys you’re nuts.” Somethin like that, and I think-

1) he’s right.
2) I’m still not listening to his podcast.

And if he doesn't? You've given up the equivalent of 4 1st round picks (which is lunacy to begin with) and are stuck with $11.6 m of dead cap for 7 years and a player with a full NMC. So much NO

You get a chance at two different Pettersson’s. The top 10 center Pettersson or the Pettersson who struggles to play through injuries.

6 good games doesn't erase 13 months of uninspired play

Where is VAN fans on EP right now? Any chance of movement in the offseason?
All over the place. Nobody really knows the depth of the knee injury, or what the drama actually was within the lockeroom.

EP looked to be in a better place mentally, after the 4 nations. He looked happier, and his game was improving. A healthy offseason with regular training (which wasn't the case this season) , should help get him back on track. The knee clearly affected his skating, as his speed-bursts were way, way down from where they were pre-injury.

Imo, he won't be, and shouldn't be traded. When healthy, he's a star player. By far the main priority for Van is forwards, and after losing Miller along with Chytil being injury prone... and a lack of available 1C's, keeping EP is a no-brainer.
