so what did we learn from this "power outage"? that he can spiral when he doesnt feel it? that he was indeed hampered by an injury? or that social media f***s you up?

I want to give it another 2 weeks to make sure its not a mirage.
Still don’t think he’s recovered. Wrister still MIA, you don’t see him carry the puck with speed dekeing people, the wrap around is not back. I think he’s finding new ways to contribute which is go to the net to tip and jam which is good but this is not back to normal Petey.

For those who continue to argue Petey is not injured and management would not play him if he was, please refer to the current Miller situation.

Absolutely huge opportunity for Petey to step up and take the reins of this team here with JT out.
Run everything through him.

Top line. Best wingers. Make him the primary option on the PP. All of the offensive zone starts.

If there’s one thing we should try to accomplish during this period, it’s to get him back to being a 100 point player.

Reunite Petey with Boeser, when is Brock back? Still day to day?

Articles are getting written about Miller needing to take a break to "reset mentally" at least partially because of injuries and people still think EP's slump was 100% mental and 0% his documented chronic injury that coincided perfectly with the timeline of his slump and interfered with his offseason training...

it's kind of ironic, people who were trashing pettersson as mentally soft a month ago while celebrating miller is a warrior, only today to have pettersson grind his way out of the slump while their hero is taking leave for a reset.

this sort of rhetoric is reductive, of course, they're both fine hockey players and an 82 game season is a grind, not to mention some organizational clandestine element with injuries at play.

It's fine to have an opinion, obviously, but I find it deeply strange when people are so adamant one way or the other in the face of uncertainty, as well as countervailing evidence that so obviously muddies the picture.

It boggles my mind that some people think a professional athlete will lie to the media and say he was was injured. It’s obvious it affected him he was on 120 point pace and looked dominant. Then suddenly his shot was less effective and his skating speed went down

Look at miller he was dealing with something for a while now and couldn’t take faceoffs and was less effective but was still playing through it. It’s culture like this is why we put our record before the players health and being able to be 100%. Demko dealing with injuries for the past few years and we don’t know if it’s from his play style or is overworked.

A lot of you guys are really just trying to create this polarizing and political war between our own fans on here that you either have to be on Miller or Pettersson's side. They're not even the same thing at all it reminds me of American politics.

I'll preface by saying Pettersson has looked fantastic the last 5 or so games. Truly so encouraging and great news. It has nothing to do with Miller and we should all just take his recent pkay as a giant W in what feels like a very tumultuous year so far.

Perhaps all this early adversity will help the team in the long run. Could say it had an effect on the Oilers last year while we basically just skipped merrily along through the season with little to no adversity.

Well... professional athletes "lie" to the media about not being injured so is the other way around that hard to believe? There are also different degrees of lying. Sometimes it's more like an excuse than lying. From the comments that I have read from coaches and players over the years, my perception is that players and coaches view the disclosure of injuries as none of the media's business. So consider this attitude where a player's health is personal and the media aren't friends and family.

To be clear, I don't think Petey lied about his injury. I also believe that the chances of an everyday player being 100% by the end of the season is slim.

Who thinks Pettersson was lying about being injured? The only position I’ve seen posters take is that Pettersson lied about the injury being minor.

This is why no one’s takes people like Bobby seriously. These guys post everyday when the player is struggling, then they disappear when the player is back to scoring. What a joke lmao
I haven’t seen him post about Petey unless it’s for dumb trade proposals on the main boards.

I think it’s funny Pettersson is playing his way through a slump and meanwhile Miller goes through it and he has to take a personal leave of absence but he’s the only mental midget on the team. I’ve acknowledged how brutal Petey has been but I’m also willing to acknowledge how much better he’s been and has been consistently one of our best forwards the last 2-3 weeks.

LMAO. Who cares who you take seriously. Who are you?

The dude played terribly for 8 months, no showed in the playoffs and picks it up for 7 games and you think he’s earning good will for the last half a year?

I’m happy he looks better but he needs to play like this all year before he earns his cap hit.

I’d have more respect if he kept posting now

?????

That's a bit harsh, no?

Petey's play has been kind of suspect since about February of this year, which makes it roughly 8~ months no? I get that Bobby's posts can be a bit..... harsh, but come on, even he's said that he's ultimately rooting for Petey to turn it around as well.
100% I am. I want him to be a player who’s earning 11.6M dollars but when he isn’t I choose to be very outspoken about it.

If you go in the JT Miller (who’s my fav Canuck) thread I mention he’s lost a step. I’m not unable to criticize my fav players.

Demko also I’ve mentioned that his injury history is a concern and I would not commit to him long term. Again he’s a favourite of mine.

People just can’t understand or respect the business side of things or people get to fanatical about players and don’t realize this is a buisness.

it’s not my responsibility to take other posters feelings in to consideration when I speak. Some of the posters here cannot deal with that.
