Player Discussion Elias Lindholm

WIth the cap increase, a 50 pt player will be worth what, 6M pretty easy?

I suspect next year this one won't look so bad. Need him at that 50something range

It's relevant to those that want him to be bad so they can rip on Sweeney for the signing?
Maybe some, but I think the majority would be elated if Lindholm turns it around or even more so if Sweeney can get a big name FA right this time and bring in a Marner or Rantanen, this Summer. Odds on either of them happening is little to none. realistically. Imo

He's not paid to be a #1 centre, never was, he's not playing like one either. Paid to be a mid to low #2 or high #3 (as cap goes up) but playing more like a mid #3. I do think he had a nagging injury, his shot has way more pep now so I think it must be improving. He's pretty elite defensively and I do think his offense will be here next year ...but never at a high #2 or low #1. Bruins still need a #1 centre, same now as it was when they signed EL. I like him, he's reliable but I'm also not opposed to asking him if he wants to go elsewhere. I'm more concerned with Charlie Mac who can't run a PP at $9.5M and never could, , not to mention he tries to hard in the playoffs and accomplishes less. Finally Swayman....I plain don't like the contract or the person. I hate not being able to cheer for a guy wearing a Bruins jersey but he brings me close to that edge.

"want him to be bad " he is bad and don't that to happen, to rip Sweeney, still waiting for DeBrusk replacement.

What if it turns out he's had a wrist injury all season and gets it sorted out over the summer? Will you be happy if that is the case and he is able to come back and play much better?

Well occasionally I waste my time kicking back against some terrible takes here and I shouldn't. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and to have their rants if that's what they want to do. EIther Lindholm is injured, as has been reported by some, even if there is no obvious visible evidence, or he is just a terrible player. I hope it's an injury because he has been good over this career, and if not, then it's going to be a long 6 more years.

There was no word of an injury in camp, he was out for baby reasons, now out of nowhere he was hurt, I was against the signing before this phantom injury, he was in decline and has been, if he was signed as a third liner then fine but he wasn't. Sweeney screwed up and many posters had Sweeney's position on this guy, Sweeney panicked had to say he got a 1C, and he is not.

You didn't answer my question, though. Just because you don't know about an injury doesn't mean there isn't one, So, if there is, and he comes back healthy and plays better, will you be happy about it?

Injured ?maybe, terrible no..He is just another Bruins players affected by a bad team overall.Lindholm can't drive the play he needs high end Talent next to him.We saw his best season in Calgary next to Tkachuk & Johnny Hockey as proof. He had a good playoff with Canucks as well ,but I can't say for sure who he was on a line with.Anyhow, he is going to be a Bruin for a while so we may as well wish him well

Your last sentence, could have been stated by me, but I hate and cannot root against this team or players, but I can be pissed off and very critical of them.

He was unquestionably signed to be the #1 center here. He was signed to play with Pasta and recapture some of his Calgary magic. You can blame the GM and you can blame the player

Why do people care so much to protect the GM?

I like how much other teams seem to hate him. Wasn't expecting that
He's played with an edge from what I have seen for a bit...more abrasive than physical, I defintely like that part of his game.

Sure, proves he's paid to be a lowest #1 this year. Not next year or any year after. I do not ever remember hearing Sweeney say "We found our #1 centre in free agency" ...you know why? They don't hit free agency. He was paid to be a #2 then transition to a #3 as the contract ages. The FA overspend bump made him the lowest paid #1 centre, still doesn't make him one nor has anyone ever called him one except the uninformed.

Then it’s a waste of money.

Team already had 2s and 3s. And they were signed for far less. So instead of focusing on what the team required, he spent big money on what they already had in spades.

That’s even worse than suggesting they didn’t sign him to be their #1C

He had the injury last year. You would think the GM/medical staff of Boston would have checked it out and signed off on it.

Injuries are weird, though, Maybe it all looked, felt, seemed good. Maybe it's a new one. I don't know. I don't even know if he has one, just speculating based on what some have said because he's been terrible and even if he was in decline, it shouldn't be this bad this fast. I hope he's hurt and just doesn't suck.

I get how people get sick of the poster who never have anything good to say about the players or GM but why are people trying to polish a turd and telling us it's a diamond? This year, the only year we have to go by this signing has been horrendous, blame whomever you want. Maybe it turns around maybe it doesn't. I actually like the player and thought it was alot but they did what they had to but he's not been what they expected, Maybe years 2-7 will be different

It's where we disagree, I don't consider his contract big money.

Oh I think Sweeney definitely thought he was going to be a #1C, or at least #1a/b thing like Krejci/Bergeron. It was clear based on how he was deployed early in the season. I don't think that is really debatable, or shouldn't be. That is also no Lindholm's fault, he was never that guy, maybe one season in his long career playing with great forwards. He's better than what we've gotten out of the guy. The money is what it is at this point. We should all be hoping he rebounds to at least his standard solid #2C level and maybe he'll never earn the contract, but he's got to be better and we're stuck with him for the forseeable future.

LAMO... spin doctor much? "We identified he had similar attributes to Patrice in his draft year" was the quote.....followed by we still like the guy and followed the guy ...no mention of being #1. You work for FOX news? or did you just want me to watch John the Sewer guy commercial before it let me watch the presser? :)
