Wondering what Avs fans would offer for the services of Elias Lindholm if the Flames decide to sell at the deadline. He would slot perfectly in the 2c slot for them for another run at the Stanley Cup.
Nice contract with another year after this one.

Lindholm feels like a bad piece to sell for us, and if we do, I'd want something more enticing than a handful of late firsts

Two Rivers
Newhook and Girard are the biggest names off the NHL roster I'd be willing to give up. Plus a whole bunch of picks and shit. Lindholm would fit in Colorado like a glove.

I'd say the Flames would be stupid to trade him, but if they can't make the postseason with the West this shitty and their big name players are only getting older... boy they probably should have gone the rebuild route.

Lindholm is 28, in his prime and with another year at a very good value. He won't come cheap and doesn't make sense to be a pure futures deal unless there's a bluechip can't miss prospect in there.

Yes please for Kadri if you retain money.
How much retention? If there's retention of more than 750K I'd want a return of some sort. He's been brutal in his own end this year. By far our worst defensive center. I wasn't expecting Backlund or Lindholm level 2 way play, but I wasn't expecting him to be worse that Ruzicka in his own end.

Flames could rebuild in a hurry in they made the likes of Lindholm, Tanev, & Hanifin available at 50% each. That's a top line center and two top pairing defensemen all with cap hits less than 2.5M with a year and half left on their contracts.

Alas, the Flames are pretty dumb and would never do that.

I still want Byram, so prob no deal to be had
I mean I'd do it. We don't even know if Byram will be healthy enough to have much of an NHL career. I think he will be a number 1 if he can stay healthy, but no guarantee. Lindholm (with retention) puts the Avs firmly in the drivers seat in west for this year and next year as well. Yea in two years everything goes to shit when Lindholm and Toews walk, but Avs could realistically go to three finals in a row before then.

Honestly i think Calgary would be the side that says no to this deal, Byram is way too much of a question mark.

I'm still not trading Byram. He is our biggest competitive advantage versus other contenders. But if he is traded, someone like Lindholm would be what I would target.

If Lindholm had more term like 3 or 4 years it might be possible. But, no way in hell you give up the young superstar who gets better every game playing 25+mins a night for 1.5 years of a 2C

I certainly understand Avs fans not wanting to move Byram, but they really don't have much else that moves the needle in a Lindholm trade that other teams couldn't easily beat.

Although he'd be a perfect fit for them - it's not a great match trade wise.

They shouldn't trade him. At least not until they can try and negotiate an extension. I would imagine the cost to pry him from Calgary now would be Jeannot level of overpay (scaled to player quality ofc).

The absolute base I would ask for is Newhook, Foudy, and 2023 1st. I would still much rather keep him though

Sad but true. Steinberg insinuated pretty strongly that Murray was behind the early extensions to Huberdeau and Weegar. My guess is Brad is leaving this summer for somewhere with more autonomy.

We should 100% trade Lindholm, not because he is a bad player but because we have zero shot of winning anything with him here and he is the best shot we have at getting pieces that can turn a rebuild from a failure like so many we have seen to potentially being a success.

of course the Flames prefer mediocrity over anything else so we will either give him a 10 year 10+ million dollar deal or let him walk for nothing trying to get 10th next year.

Nope, Byram should only be traded to get someone like Elias Petterson.
I do think Lindholm would be a perfect fit for the Avs. He gives them that combo #2/Shutdown/Faceoff C that they need and fits in the cap structure. But we can't trade a dollar for a quarter and 2 dimes. Avs don't have the pieces I don't think without Byram.
