i think it's a fair deal. he'll be 32 when it starts and is usually a 40-50 pt player. maybe he gets an extra year in UFA who knows. i think 3-4 years would be the likely term he'd be offered. but he likes it here and i belive the scheifele & helle commitments plays a big part too. one of the OG analytics darlings, glad to (finally) have him on the Jets for the next few years.

Not sure what this means for Ehlers in two years with regards to cap structure.

That said... as deep as this forward group appears to be now, it might be even better as our high end prospects like Rutger start pushing guys down the line up

i think when it comes to the big name UFAs the Jets may not be on their radars. however, the demelo/stastny/nino tier i think we can go ahead and kill this narrative if it applied to them.
Agreed, elite UFA will never come here but I'm tired of hearing especially from other teams posters that we can't even keep our own free agents let alone try to sign some.

He is a great fit. And always nice when a guy recognizes the positives of an organization and market and wants to be a part of it.

From the Chevy side, he was a good get for a second, and this is a very reasonable signing. I guess he will be 34 at the end of this deal so not a big performance fall off risk. Well done from wire to wire, Chevy.

Only way this organization attracts elite UFA’s are huge overpayments and/or being a consistent top 5 team. But I’m a sucker for in-house developed players.

It's close to pointless to discuss it this early on, but after playing around with the numbers, it should be relatively painless to keep Ehlers in UFA 2025. We will need to commit to our forward prospects to replace guys like Iafallo and Appleton, but that is why we've drafted them anyway.

We might have to make a decision between going long-term with Perfetti and addressing the right side of the defense, but other than that, I see absolutely no cap-related issues with keeping Nik. The offense will be f***ing stacked either way, it's just the defense that could look very different from what it is today. If we were able to run close to the cap ceiling, you could reasonably get a good 2RHD and give Perfetti 8x8 or something like that.

Hopefully Nino continues to elevate his linemates. Can't get much more value than that for 4 million of cap space.

Really like this signing and think its good for both the team and the player. Defensively responsible with enough offensive punch to move up the lineup whenever needed. He seems like the kinda player every team needs for a deep playoff run. Also seems like a very likable dude in general.

Well done Chevy

Winter is Coming
Connor fn Bedard seemed pretty excited to play in the city closest to his hometown . I mean there's a few. The perception is changing

I think the retention crisis is over, but recruitment is still very much an issue.

Name the last ufa elite player who made it to ufa, bottom line they normally don't. And the ones who do have their destination in mind already

We were good for a while so our cupboard emptied but

Rutger lambert chibrikov salomonster Barlow lucius zhilkin = recruitment on its way

Little rhd light but lots of teams are
