The puck is right there. He is allowed to defend his ice. I am unaware of any rule that prevents the first person to the puck from making body contact.

I think OEL popping up into the reverse hit is what garnered the fine. Not that it was anything major.

Fine by me. OEL stood up for himself. Took a number after Guentzels kinda sorta elbow punch push that OEL didn’t like so he dealt with it greatly imo

Yep. That's a forearm/elbow with force to the jaw. Apparently heat shots only matter if its with a stick or bodycheck.

OEL's hit was much closer to a legal hit than this.

I thought i remember Friedman mentioning they may put a rule on the books

is this them enforcing it?

Why are people posting clips where one of the players actually touches the puck and pretending they're equivalent.

The equivalent play is the Matheson one I posted above, where neither player has the puck when the hit is thrown. And it resulted in a fine.

This isn't the league cracking down on reverse hits because it's not one.
