I know we have discussions about these 3 already but was curious about how a poll would go..

This isn't necessarily a who's better of the 3 although that could play into it... but in what order would you prioritize keeping each of these players

Voted Bennett > Ekblad > Marchand. Marchand has been wonderful, but he is a bit of a luxury. The blue line is one player away from making me queasy right now.
From a playoff winning point of view I'd say Bennett > Marchand > Ekblad. Of course Ek is important in the locker room but he has also been injured/suspended quite a lot. Also Schmidt will get paid more than what he has earned this season but I Zito has shown ability to replace defensemen. All in all, the situation is complicated. Bennett probably is a priority and the rest depends on the money what is left.

I hate it but losing Ekblad would be lethal for the franchise

Bennett
Ekblad
Marchand 🥲

But I have believe in Zito he if someone can pull a miracle

We got Mack waiting for a chance and Marchy is looking to cash in big this time.

Unfortunately we only got him for another two games so enjoy this while we're here.
Mackie has great potential and I think Marchy could be a big influence on him. They are similar in build and I don't believe Makie can ever be a Barky or Bennet force but I can envision him as a pesky, fast player with a deadly shot.
Marchand is infectious. He sells tickets, merch and interest. Be creative and he will stick around.

Playing great but too bad Florida didn't get a younger Marchand.

This isn't going to be a popular choice, but I went Ekblad>Marchand>Bennett. My reasoning was simple, resigning Ek first not only gives us two of those extremely hard to find and needed RHD, but guarantees the top two pairings remain intact for at least 3-5 years (I'm not sweating resigning Mikkola after next year too hard).

I chose Marchand over Bennett simply because I think Benny's contract is going to be an albatross in 3 years. We'll get better value for Marchand continuing Lundell's education as the 2C for those same 3 years. A simple business decision there since I don't see Benny signing for <$8M and he just won't be worth that as he breaks down going into his 30s. Marchand will come at a lower price and allow an easier path to resign Mackie as well as continue the necessary depth to keep the window open wide.

Love all three and wish we could keep all 3, but there is a difficult decision for Zito coming during this very short offseason.

I choose to keep all three and disagree with the premise of this poll.... But your answer was well thought out.

Bennett and Ekblad will stay, Marchand is about to get a Billion dollar offer if not Millions, they will be throwing money at him that he will not be able to refuse. even with the tax advantage.

Tkachuk and Reinhart on LTIR until playoffs. Re-sign all three plus more. Watch the meltdown

I could really see Tkachuk on LTIR for all of next season if it is indeed a hip issue that needs surgery.
Win or lose the surgery won't be till July-August-especially if they win and he wants to party for a month.

With Tkachuk out for 25-26 cap reasons Zito has 28.5mil to work with. In 26 Bob's 10 mil comes off the books and if he re-signs I expect him no more than 5mil at his age. So, that will help with any long term deals handed out.

I'd assume out of the 3, Ekblad would take the biggest "discount", so if he came in around 6-6.75 over 8 years then we got 22mil to re-sign Bennett(say 8mil) and then Marchand who could be 6-7 if he stays.

7mil left over to fill out 2 Forward spots, qualify Samo, and 1 defenseman and a backup goalie.

I'd assume they would not want to ship off E-Rod for the 25-26 season. Dude can play up and down the lineup, can forecheck/board battle etc... I mean, even if Samo impresses next year Erod can just live on the 4th line and bump up incase of injury.

It's hard to rate all 3. The team did survive without Ekblad, and to be determined how they could replace him in Free agency. Not like they would lose him mid season without a solid option.
Bennett is a great mid 6 center that has more value than his point totals. I feel like he is #1, short term wise to keep the team competitive now. Even if Lundell blossoms to #2, the minutes are minor between those lines and quality depth is crucial.

Marchy has been a godsend TDL pickup. but he will be 37 and out of the 3 more of a mercenary that doesn't have any solid roots here. Did his family come down here or stay up in Boston a la Kype Okposo family for last years run? Would love to keep him, but a bit of a risk due to him being in his late 30's even with his great conditioning

In regards to Bennett, if we win the cup, you give him the 8 years and just eat it. He’s almost single handily winning us a cup. I’m not a “loyalty” over everything person by any means. But if these guys win 2 in a row, run them into the ground until they got nothing left in the tank. They earned that respect from this franchise.
