Value of: Ekblad next contract?

He has massive injury issues and now with this PED thing, I’m sure he’s not going to do as well as you think.

Are you just going to tell people they are wrong or are you going to contribute to the thread with a prediction? I already put it out there I think he is in the ballpark of 10M on the open market. Whether that ends up in the 9's I wouldn't be shocked but if he wanted it some team will give him a deal that starts with 10.

Definitely has disaster potential. Between the injuries and just the already very apparent lack of footspeed...any team signing him long-term at his age and with those additional concerns, is almost certainly going to regret it. Probably sooner, rather than later even. That Florida system does a pretty good job of hiding his mobility limitations...so if he does leave, there's a pretty good chance he looks poor and struggles quite a bit if asked to do more, within a system that doesn't insulate him nearly as well.

Well you do the same shit so why do I get different rules? You don’t give 9-10 mil for 35 point defenseman lmao.

did they say that they'd like to keep him or he's more likely to hit UFA?
The only news that I've heard about the Panthers was that they'd love to have Marchand back with the team and even that i take with a grain of salt, because TSN lost a shit ton of credibility since losing their major NHL contract to Sportsnet.

How do you lose a ton of credibility by losing TV contract?

loding decent analysts that went elesewhere and losing contacts within the industy
They haven’t lost any contacts in the industry lol, they still have 3-4 regional TV deals, didn’t really lose anyone but Ferraro, and McKenzie retired except for a few gigs.

When he signs, it's gonna be one of the worst contracts in the league within 1 year of the ink drying.

I was thinking back to Florida for like 6-7M per year for 8 years, gets the super term to lower AAV in a low tax state.

I think anyone paying him 8-10M is gonna be really disappointed.

I still don't feel like a contract will age well and the injury list is concerning. But he's definitely not hurting his value in another long playoff-run where he's playing 23 minutes a night and has 11 points in 13 games while being on the top PK pair and on the PP.

His skating sucks and he's like another knee or leg injury away from being toast...but he manages to be an impact defenseman on a championship team anyways...that's not nothing.
