Nobody is calling EK65 a defensive stalwart. But to say him getting 100 points and leading his team in points by over 30 was the team purposely inflating his production is ridiculous. Their team wasn't good enough to inflate his production, they were so bad that his production emphasizes how incapable they were of creating offense without him.

Sharks were -55 when Karlsson wasn't on the ice.

Karlsson was also +/- 0 at 5on5 playing behind by far the leagues worst goaltending with a -44 GSAA. His bad +/- had a lot to do with 25 empty net goals against.

He also put up 101 points playing with bad players, finishing 2nd in the league in 5on5 points with 65, which was also ahead of McDavid.

The Sharks would have had a historically terrible season if they didn't have Karlsson

Habs have no need to trade Laine. They need him to shut down his season, get surgery and get healthy.

I the trade threads, folks need to comprehend that the Habs will not pay to trade undesireable players. Because they have no need to - they are fine w.r.t the cap now and into the future.
