Current designed socks protective stuff wouldn't had stopped this. Something would have to be made that extends for the entire leg just not from knee down. Like maybe cut resistant long johns or leggings. Its just unfortunately that the it somehow got under eberle's hockey pants equipment.
 
You have to think we’re moving towards base layers as a whole being cut resistant.

Bought both my kids cut resistant socks in the past week. So far they hate them.
 
In France, the FFHG is making neck guards mandatory in Ligue Magnus and Division 1 from January 15th and the rest of the French hockey community from March 1st. It was already mandatory in all age categories from U20 down.

Glad to see it. Let’s get this thing grandfathered in just like helmets and visors. Might take a generation but it’s gotta start somewhere.
 


Are NHL and NHLPA considering impact on fans (experiencing catastrophic event) over the possible injury from skate blade?

Recent NHL injury may not have been prevented as it was high.
