With Vegas set to hand Eichel his new deal July 1, don’t be surprised if he gives them that hometown discount, with the tax advantage mixed into the deal as well.
All designed to give the Knights more of a chance to land Marner and/or other players over the length of Eichel’s contract.
Eichel is going to get paid. With the tax advantages though, combined with his off ice money in Vegas…. AND the fact he needs a highly skilled winger (with speed) to play with, more than anything else right now (for his NHL legacy, to help him win another Cup), the Knights are going to take a big run at Marner.
One thing we know about Vegas too??
They almost always get the player they target, and after two disappointing playoffs, they’re going to make a big splash this off-season.
Just to irritate fans around the league even more, don’t be surprised if Marner’s AAV is also, much lower than what people are speculating it’s going to take..
It’s a great fit for him going from Matthews to Eichel, he’ll get the tax advantage, but most importantly, he’ll be in a place he can compete for Cups, with a fanbase who will treat him like a God, without the crazy pressure and expectations he’ll find in other cities.
It really is the oerfect spot for Marner.
