Roster for the 2019 Karjala Cup

Isn't it strange that a tournament like this lacks several good players? Sweden has got many good players in KHL and NLA but they are not on the roster for some reason. Would be more interesting if the best players in Europe actually did play with their national team. I mean it ain't like players like Gustav Rydahl and Arvid Lundberg is on the same level as Linus Videll and Patrik Hersley. So typical hockey.

Linus Videll is without a club. Hersley have been horrible this season.

It is traditionally a tryouts tournament(EHT). Only home teams bring their close to A rosters most of the time.

But it is so dull to me. It is like the 4th grade players playing together and people just accepts this. It don't remember it being like around the millenium turn. Up until the it was an exclusiveness about playing with the national team. Now it is like half of the players in SHL have played there.

You can't force the national teams to make rosters to your liking. And we have the NHL's predatory approch to thank for the demise of european hockey. And also the european leagues that willingly give in into the farm league status by signing a transfer agreement.

I like the looks of the team. Happy Jaskin and Sustr are representing. People rag on Kovar but him (and Cervenka) always show up and represent. Was hoping Sedlak would be scoring more in the K.

90% of our D is comprised of guys that came to North America and couldn't make an impact at the NHL level. I think only Galvas and Doudera have not tried yet. Oops, Doudera tried the OHL.

Russia-Finland now 2-2 before 3rd period.

I missed most of the game so far; interested to see if Puljujarvi is playing with confidence against tougher (?) opposition than Liiga.

What a dull team, so much for giving young players a chance.

Sedlak's 9 points make him tied 2nd in points on his team, the top scorer is Hyka who has 11 points, scoring at 0.5 PPG pace. Shows how bad that team is/how low scoring league KHL is.

Sedlak wasn't a big scorer in any league he has played in, ever. He isn't really a high-end player.

Miro Aaltonen 3-3 on PP. First good-looking Finnish play of the period...

And that's that, 3-4. Finland slightly dominated the 3rd but wasted two (unnecessary delay of game) PPs that didn't really produce any solid chances. Dodged one whistle too. Solid comeback but sure could have gone either way.

how was Pulju? 0+1?
Yep 0+1. The two or three plays where I noticed him, didn't really impress either way. Not a liability on PP cycling, then at 5v5 had a slapper at the goalie that gave him the apple. Okay battling I guess.

Everyone was playing kind of nervous , lots of too neat attempts that resulted in giveaways. Occasionally solid good teamplay though. (Didn't focus on Russia that much, they created a few good chances. I basically just saw the 3rd period.)

There really needs to be a twitter hashtag... #needsmoreZohorna

Happy we won... imagine if we beat Sweden twice in the same day at 2 different levels? You'd have to go back to the 70s to find a similar day.lol

Strong performance from Sweden in the third period coming back from behind against Russia. It's been a pretty even game and 4-4 is probably fair. Mikael Wikstrand is a stud. Why couldn't he play like this when he played for Färjestad? Heard he's been very good in Kazan this season too.

Let's grab that bonuspoint.
