Pre-Game Talk: Edmonton vs Vegas

The boys will probably have 2 full practices before this series starts. I'd spend 95% of it working on the PK. EVERYONE knows how this series will look with the Golden Showers getting powerplays non-stop. The disparity in PP's between Edmonton and LA (complete horseshit btw) was nothing compared to what the Oil are up against with Bobblehead Bettman's favourite team.

from a Bruins fan....Good Luck and hope you win.
Rock me on the water…

One of my all time faves. Just snagged tickets to see him in Vegas again in Nov.

My fave memory is seeing him perform in a church, of all places, a few years back in Pasadena. So cool

I'm still pissed about 2023. You may have forgotten this, but two years ago the Vegas - Edmonton series was tied 2 games apiece, and the Oil were up by a goal. That is, somewhat over halfway through game 5, Edmonton was winning (marginally) the series.

Then, the ref at the opposite end of the ice from the action suddenly raised his hand and made a phantom call against Philip Broberg. The replay showed clearly that the ref, 150 feet away, had erred and had invented an infraction that never occurred.

Vegas scored on the subsequent power-play, and then scored again right after that when the Oil were rattled. Game over. And one game later, the Oil were out.

I don't want to take this bitterness to my grave.

Be prepared for more bitterness as Vegas is…….get ready for it…….are you ready???………1…………..2………….3………….

THE LEAST PENALIZED TEAM IN LEAGUE HISTORY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 2018 my daughter took me to the Pavillion in Boston to see him for Mother's Day. Joe Walsh opened for him. Both were very good. A gospel group sang along with him for a couple of tunes. Saw him years ago opening for Tom Petty also.

We can beat Vegas but…. We absolutely cannot run Nurse-Bouchard. We just can’t. I don’t know how Knoblauch doesn’t see that by now
So Nurse seems like he's good (physical tools) and is a veteran. Bouchard is the best defenseman on the team, so in theory you would use the best defenseman to help the vet who's having some struggles, but it's just a disaster.

I just hope Nurse watches a ton a film to realize he needs to think again.

Sooner or Later the Oilers are going to have to slay the slow series start demon that has become the culture of this team if they want to win the cup.

That being said they'll likely prove me wrong before proving me right.

This team just plays the first 3 games of a series like it's regular season for the most part. Can't find their game until they're down. They don't do well will breaks. They're like the Borg.... you get a few shots before they adapt.

The last 2 years game 1 of the second round has been an absolute stinker of a performance.

This is what I'll be watching for. When I see a team that takes the bull by the horns game 1.... then I'll believe. A team that shows it is just as desperate in the first 3 games over the last 4..... Until then.. I'm just going to enjoy the roller coaster ride knowing eventually they'll run out of track.

Play like we did in game 5 and we can beat the Knights this series.

Need to lean into our superior forward depth.
Play like we did game 5 and we straight up win cup. I don’t think we can sustain that but if we can keep our special teams dialed in a. It better this series and keep the depth guys going we can handle Vegas. Vegas can’t play the way did against the wild or we will win.

It seems like last year they almost figured the at out. Played well against LA, Dallas and Florida in game 1’s but were stoned by Bobrovsky. The only true no show was against the schmucks.

Im sure he will...and then proceed to do the same shit he does every playoffs lol

They were definitely better game 1's last year agreed. Heck they probably don't get to the final if they laid an egg game 1 against Dallas.

I'd say they would have beat Vegas 2 years ago if they didn't shit the bed so bad the first game. They were the better team overall but just gave out a freebie.

This team can take any team over a 7 game series imo. They can't beat the other elite teams in the league with the first 1's free culture though. Too hard to win 4 of 6 against them.

Our A game is tops in the league. Our B game can compete. Problem is we tend to play with consistency a C game in 1 or 2 of the first 3 in a series. And you just can't always have your A game.

I vividly remember. We were on our way to take game 5 and the c**ksu**** refs decide to call a trash away from the play call. They managed that one.

I am at the point that I can't even imagine EDM going up 2-0 in a series lol

But we were up like 3-1 in game 1 I believe against the Cucks. Stuart Skinner decided to show up the last half of that game with some atrocious goals

Don't forget the Draisaitl/Pietrangelo BS. Dri was single handedly dismantling that team with 7 points in 4 games. Then Pietrangelo made one of the biggest bitch moves in NHL history and tried to take his arm off. Drai had 0 points in the next 2 and was a -5, and pretty clearly seemed to be battling through something.

Parros gave Pietrangelo a 1 game suspension, but in an act of brazen cowardice, Parros suspended Nurse for 1 game for a fight in order to even up the suspensions.

Looking back on it, that Pietrangelo slash might have won Vegas the cup.

I remember being up 3-1 and thinking we're cooked. We had no business being up that game. We were playing poorly and got what we deserved. Skinner didn't make up for it definitely... but I'm not sure Hasek was saving us that game.
